🌟BEHIND THE BIZ🌟 is back baby!!
Meet Jenna Priestner co-owner of Sidestage (co-owner with Cory Thomas)
How many years have you been in South Osborne?
About one and a half, since October 2024.
Why did you choose to open here?
As a resident in the neighborhood, this felt like the best spot. Cory and I have been involved in the music scene for 30+ years combined, so we opened this place to fill a void in the city that was needed for a smaller venue. There are a couple that exist, but we each have their own identities. For us it was key to have a really great, welcoming, all ages space.
There is no official connection to the Park Theatre but we’re like cousins! We’re both very intentional to create that welcoming community space - that’s what makes a South Osborne business.
Best part about being in South Osborne?
That you never have to leave the neighborhood! We have everything here. It’s a great place to live, and it’s bikeable. Now that I’m here I never want to leave.
What are you most proud of with this place?
I’m very proud of the events we’ve been able to put on that aren’t just about live music. We’ve hosted some more community based events. I’m also very proud of our staff, who have all been here since day one.
Anything else about your biz? Fun fact?
There’s a lot of history with this building being the old Nermans bookstore - these are the original bricks and hardwoods.
We love to host events of all kinds - graduations, celebrations, birthdays, we’re happy to be a community space for a variety of parties! Just email us to inquire.
Be sure to check out shows at Sidestage - shows represent a full range of music genres and is always a good time. Special shoutout to Manitoba Metalfest, coming up in May! 🤟
