The SVRA welcomes and invites participation from people in the area of Winnipeg between Strathcona Street (including Denson Place) and Erin Street, from Ellice Avenue to Portage Avenue. Our Mission is to foster community well-being in South Valour, connecting residents to build an inclusive and supportive neighbourhood. Everything we do is driven by our values of inclusivity, positivity, collaboration, care, and being evidence-informed.

Join the South Valour Residents Association for a Fall Neighbourhood Walk, next Saturday, October 3, at 1:00pm!

We will start at the Valour Community Centre Isaac Brock Site (near Telfer St N at Spruce St), take a ~30min walk through our lovely neighbourhood, and end on Wall St by Seven Cafe and Wall Street Slice.

This is a bit of a last minute event, but we want to take advantage of the mild fall weather, and are planning for more regular walks in the spring.

(In case of rain, we'll try again on Sunday, October 4, at 1:00pm.)

At Isaac Brock School in Winnipeg, the South Valour Residents Association brought students, families, neighbours, and local partners together to create a greener place for learning and gathering. By starting small, planning for aftercare and sharing responsibility, the group has built an effort that continues to grow long after planting day.
The projects were supported through Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program in 2023, with support from Winnipeg Foundation, and in 2025, with support from Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries.

À l’école Isaac Brock, à Winnipeg, la South Valour Residents Association a réuni des élèves, des familles, des membres du voisinage et des partenaires locaux afin de créer un milieu plus vert où apprendre et se rassembler. En commençant à petite échelle, en planifiant l’entretien et en partageant les responsabilités, l’organisme a mis sur pied une initiative qui continue de prendre de l’ampleur bien après la journée de plantation.

Join us for a free delicious meal and family friendly fun on Saturday October 24th as we share what the South Valour Resident's Association has been working on in our neighbourhood and what might be next! We start the event with a pumpkin carving contest from 4-5pm, followed by dinner and updates from SVRA, costume parade, dessert potluck, and awarding of contest prizes.

Where: Orioles Valour Community Centre (448 Burnell St)
When: Oct 24, 2026, 4-7pm

🌱 Help protect our new shrubs at Isaac Brock School! 🌿

We’re raising funds for fencing to protect the 2025 planted shrubs around the school. Our goal is to have the fencing installed this fall, before the snow arrives!

💚 Donate $20 or more and receive a complimentary SVRA tote bag while supplies last!

Every donation helps us protect our new greenery and create a beautiful, welcoming school environment.

We recently had the opportunity to talk with CHVN about how the SVRA approaches grassroots safety as a small volunteer-run non-profit. In the interview, we discussed how the new community pantry contributes to perceived and actual safety and the response we’ve seen since it was installed.

The pantry is a simple idea: take what you need, leave what you can. It’s already sparked some great conversations about food insecurity, community connection, and the many ways neighbours can support one another.

A big thank you to local resident Lee-Anne Penner for creating this wonderful and informative sign for Isaac Brock School to help raise awareness about the importance of protecting our young trees. 🌱

As these photos show, damage to a tree’s bark can be serious. Bark acts as a tree’s protective layer, helping shield it from weather, pests, disease and other damage. It also plays an important role in transporting water and nutrients throughout the tree.

We’re so grateful to Lee-Anne for taking the time to create this thoughtful sign and help educate our community. ❤️

A huge thank-you to Alex, a fairly recent newcomer to Winnipeg, who graciously volunteered his time, energy, and resources to create the South Valour Residents Association signage for our new community pantry.

We’re incredibly grateful for Alex’s generosity and craftsmanship in helping us bring this community project to life. It’s people like Alex who make our neighbourhood stronger. ❤️
