Some scenes from September 29th’s Open Stage and Feature night. The Feature Act was Zachary Lucky whose amazing musical storytelling is matched with his rich baritone delivery and captivating acoustic guitar playing. And we were all pleased to have him accompanied by Miles Zurawell, a multi talented musician, who provided a master class in sonic support.

The evening began with an Open Stage and we thank all the participants that stepped up to perform for us. And thank you to Bob Gray for recording some highlights of the evening. But especially, we thank all the volunteers that make this event possible.

A new Saturday Afternoon Bluegrass Jam is starting up!!!

As a result of a highly successful summer jam series, the Mt. Douglas Senior's Housing Society is welcoming the VBA to come once a month and play during the Fall months. The dates are October 10 (note revised date), November 7 and December 5th.

These jams are always enjoyed by residents of the housing society who have graciously opened their residence to us at no cost.

*Details:** Dear fiddlers! I am offering another set of Monday night classes. This class is for intermediate level adult players looking to work on their skills in a fun and relaxed setting. We will explore tunes from a variety of styles (old time, celtic, bluegrass, swing, blues), with a strong focus on technique. Tunes will be taught by ear with sheet music provided at the end of class. Full class summary e-mails and recordings will be sent out weekly. If you have any questions don't hesitate to e-mail me. *

The Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival weekend was a super successful event. A special thanks to all the awesome organizers, dedicated volunteers, talented musicians, sound system magicians, faithful sponsors, happy festival goers and the heavens above for sunny, very warm and cloudless days and nights! Kudos to the Victoria Bluegrass Association for their volunteer role managing the huge volume of fans seeking merchandise for all the bands! A ten photo limit cannot capture it all so here is a glimpse of the a festival action!

Everyone’s fave fiddler and all around great guy is needing a hand getting through some hard times after a scary accident left him unable to play! He’s confident he will get through but in the mean time has no income and the road to recovery will be expensive. Let’s send him some love in the form of greenback dollars!
