🎨🌿 Petals to Pigments Workshop 🌿🎨

Curious about growing your own natural dyes? Join us for a workshop exploring the art of dye plants!

We’ll cover the essentials of creating a dye garden—what to plant and how to grow it—so you can start producing your own natural colour at home. Participants will receive small seed packets to begin their own dye plants, setting the stage for future workshops where we’ll work with these homegrown materials.

While we’re talking plants, we’ll also be dyeing some silk in a solar dye process, and discover how simple shifts with iron oxide and citric acid can dramatically change colours. 🌼

📅 Sunday, May 3rd
⏰ 11:00am–12:30pm
📍 Yates Street Community Garden – 1014 Yates St

The DRA will have an entry in this year's Santa Claus Parade and we are hosting an art build on Thursday, October 2nd at 5:30 pm in the clubhouse at the Canadian Pacific Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club (720 Belleville Street). Our entry is inspired by The Herds (a public art and climate initiative designed to inspire action and renew our bond with the natural world) and we will be making a banner and creating animal masks to be worn in the parade. RSVP here to let us know if you plan on coming to the build: https://victoriacoolkit.info/masks-and-puppets-workshops/.

The DRA's Community Association Land Use Committee (CALUC) is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, October 15th at 6 pm at 625 Broughton Street. This is an opportunity for nearby residents to learn about a proposed development at 617 Broughton Street, ask questions, and provide feedback. This happens before the applicant formally submits an application to the City. More details about the proposed project can be found here: https://tender.victoria.ca/webapps/ourcity/Prospero/Details.aspx?folderNumber=CLC00481.
