Join us for an open conversation with South Asian artists and cultural leaders as we explore the joys, complexities, and diversity of South Asian arts practices in the province of BC. Through reflections and dialogue, panelists will share insights into their creative practices, what they're seeing in the sector, and offer suggestions on how organizations can better support and work with South Asian artists. This session will be an opportunity for learning, listening, and deeper understanding for a stronger sector.

The arts don't happen in isolation.

They happen because people show up. People who create, lead, advocate, support, question, imagine, and care.

This past week, Arts BC's Board of Directors gathered to reflect on the state of BC's arts and culture sector and the role we can play in supporting its future.

We left with new ideas, renewed energy, and a deeper appreciation for the people doing this work in communities across the province.

One reflection from the weekend captured it perfectly:

🎬 Call for Creative Partners

A new documentary project exploring addiction recovery in British Columbia is seeking creative collaborators.

Paths to Recovery is currently in development for a proposed TELUS Originals submission and is looking to connect with producers, writers, directors, videographers, sound professionals, and post-production personnel interested in helping shape a documentary that explores the many pathways to recovery available in the Lower Mainland.

The The Recovered Arts Film & Theatre Collective team is particularly interested in connecting with creatives who bring strong documentary storytelling skills, lived experience, or a passion for community impact and social change.

The Province of BC is currently accepting submissions for its Budget 2027 consultation process, and arts, culture, and heritage organizations have an opportunity to help inform the conversation.

Arts BC and our sector partners are encouraging artists, cultural organizations, heritage groups, and supporters to participate by sharing the impact of arts, culture, and heritage in communities across British Columbia.

🇯🇵 Artist Residency Opportunity: Kobe, Japan

The DANCE BOX Residency Program in Kobe, Japan is offering a fully funded one-month residency for performing arts practitioners interested in exploring cultural mobility, community knowledge, folk traditions, and contemporary approaches to archiving.

Based in Shin-Nagata, Kobe City, the residency invites artists to immerse themselves in the local community, develop new research and creative work, lead a community workshop, and share their discoveries through a public presentation and archival project.
