On Wednesday, October 14, 2026 the Vermilion Gun Club hosted the second year class of students enrolled in the Wildlife and Fisheries Program at Lakeland College for an afternoon of hands-on fi****ms training. This annual fall event allows students to experience handling and firing a variety of different fi****ms under the direct supervision of experienced Range Safety Officers. The 15 students and their instructor were taught how to safely handle, load and fire a selection of Revolvers, Semi-Auto handguns, 22LR Semi-Auto rimfire ri**es, .223 REM Centerfire bolt-action ri**es and a variety of different sh***un action fi****ms ( pump, semi-auto, over and under in 410 and 12 gauge caliber). For the majority of the students this was their first opportunity to handle and fire handguns so needless to say that the handgun stage was very popular and busy. All in all it was another successful afternoon spent with eager students learning and experiencing first hand the safe use of fi****ms.
And to the club volunteers( Dave, Jeremy, Vaughn, Blaine, Paul,Greg, John & Bob) who came out to act as RSO’s and to work with the students a Big Thank You!
