On August 22, our community gathered for Walk with Art to hear regional artist Scott Sawtell speak about his imaginative abstract oil paintings and the inspirations behind his work. In conversation with Curator Carolyn Hickey, Sawtell shared his approach to bringing together realism, abstraction, comics, animation, and everyday experiences to create cohesive “mash-ups” on canvas.

✨ Walk With Art – 5th Edition 🚶🎨
The 5th edition of Walk With Art took participants through the charming streets of Unionville, where everyone enjoyed light exercises, a guided community walk, and meaningful conversations while exploring the neighbourhood.

The walk concluded at the Varley Art Gallery, where participants viewed the inspiring works of local artist Hayley Chi Chiu.

It was a wonderful morning of staying active, connecting with the community, and celebrating local art. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this edition another memorable experience!

Walk With Art is back with its 6th Edition! 🎶✨

Join us for another wonderful afternoon of community, creativity, and connection. Designed for seniors aged 55+, this free program combines gentle movement, art, music, and meaningful conversations.

📅 Saturday, August 8
🕑 Starting at 2:00 PM

We’ll begin with warm-up exercises, followed by a leisurely walk to Crosby Arena where we’ll enjoy a live performance by Eunice Keitan as part of Music on the Streets. 🎵

Bring your friends, enjoy the outdoors, and spend an afternoon celebrating art, music, and community.

🎶 Live music is taking over the streets every single weekend from June 20 to September 7, running from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with amazing local talent! 🎸

Whether you’re grabbing a coffee, strolling through the neighborhood, or looking for a great way to spend your afternoon, come soak in the vibrant atmosphere and support the incredible artists that make our community shine.

Performances will run every weekend—including the August 3 and September 7 long weekends—with the exception of:

🎨 Walk With Art is back for its 5th Edition!

Join us on Saturday, July 25, 2026, for an afternoon of walking, art, and community.

We’ll begin with our signature Walk With Art at 1:00 PM, featuring a gentle group walk through the beautiful Unionville neighbourhood. Following the walk, participants will head to the Varley Art Gallery of Markham for a special exhibition visit from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, where we’ll enjoy Artist in the Gallery with Hayley Chi Hay Chiu.
