June is Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

Pride Month is a time to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ people, honour the history of Pride, and recognize the ongoing fight for safety, equality, and acceptance.

Pride is about joy, visibility, love, resistance, and the right for people to live as their full selves.

At The Circle of C’s Project, we also recognize the importance of uplifting Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer voices. The “2S” in 2SLGBTQIA+ stands for Two-Spirit, an English umbrella term used by some Indigenous people to describe diverse gender, sexual, and spiritual identities.

Two-Spirit is specific to Indigenous Peoples and can mean different things across Nations, communities, and people. This is why listening, learning, and showing respect matters.

This Pride Month, we celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+, Two-Spirit, and Indigiqueer people. No one should have to separate parts of who they are to belong.

Culture. Community. Connection.

National Indigenous History Month: More Than History

June is National Indigenous History Month — a time to recognize the histories, cultures, languages, stories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

But Indigenous history is not only something from the past. It is living, growing, and carried forward every day through language, teachings, art, ceremony, family, community, leadership, and youth reconnecting with culture.

This month is a reminder to honour the past, recognize the present, and uplift the Indigenous youth who are continuing to carry culture forward.

Learning about Indigenous history should not begin and end in June. It means listening to Indigenous voices, learning the truth about colonialism, respecting the land we live on, supporting Indigenous-led work, and making space for Indigenous youth to belong.

At The Circle of C’s Project, we believe learning should lead to connection, respect, and community.

Culture. Community. Connection. 🧡

A full-circle moment 🤍

The Circle of C’s Project began through our first microgrant with The Howl Experience and Canada Service Corps — and this was the start of so much growth, learning, and community connection.

From our very first workshop to the partnerships and opportunities that followed, this project continues to grow because of the people and communities who believed in it along the way.

So grateful for everyone who has supported this journey so far. 🌷

Medicine Bag Workshop Recap ✨

Youth had the opportunity to learn about the meaning of medicine bags while creating their own. In many Indigenous cultures, medicine bags are deeply personal and may hold medicines, prayers, or objects that carry special meaning.

It was wonderful to see everyone’s unique designs and the connections made throughout the workshop.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, helping make this workshop so meaningful and to for hosting.💛

Introducing The Circle of C’s Project 🌱

Growing up, I didn’t always have access to cultural opportunities like these. When I finally did, they helped me connect with my culture and feel a sense of belonging.

That’s why I created this project — so more youth have access to those same experiences.

What started as a grant project has grown into workshops that bring youth, culture, and community together.
