Fire doesn’t care about excuses.

➡️ Living in a rental? Test your alarms monthly and notify your landlord if they aren’t working.
➡️ Burnt dinner a few months ago and heard the alarm sound? That’s not enough. Press the ‘test’ button every month to make sure they’re working.
➡️ Already have an alarm on the main floor of your home? You need a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas.

No excuses, because only working smoke alarms can save lives.

Having working smoke alarms where required isn’t just smart - it’s the law.

June is PTSD Awareness Month. 🎗️

Trauma changes the brain, but support can change the outcome. 💙

This month isn't just about a label; it's about the people behind it. It’s about breaking down the walls of stigma that keep people suffering in silence.

If you are walking through the aftermath of trauma, please remember:
✨ Your feelings are validated.
✨ Your experience is real.
✨ Effective, evidence-based treatments are out there.

You don't have to carry the weight alone. Reach out, check in on your loved ones, and let's make wellness accessible for everyone. 🎗️

🎆 Let’s make it a safe Victoria Day weekend, Deseronto! 🎆

As we get ready to celebrate the unofficial start of summer with family, friends, and fireworks, The Deseronto Fire Department Association, wants to remind everyone to keep fire safety at the top of the list!
If you’re planning on celebrating this long weekend, keep these tips in mind:
🔥 Check Your Alarms: A long weekend is the perfect time to test your smoke and CO alarms. It only takes a second!
🍔 Grill Smart: Keep barbecues at least 3 feet away from your home and never leave them unattended.
sparkler Fireworks Safety: Only light fireworks in clear, open spaces. Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby for "duds" and used casings.
🚫 Burn Permits: Ensure your annual burn permit is up to date before lighting up the fire pit, and always check for active burn bans.
Let’s keep our community safe while we enjoy the festivities. Have a wonderful and fire-safe Victoria Day! 🇨🇦
