What happens when young writers are given space, mentorship, and community? ✨ Rising Voices. ✨

This weekend, INKspire celebrated the launch of our first print anthology featuring work from 25 incredible Writer Fellows exploring identity, race, grief, joy, resistance, and growth. 📸

To our fellows: thank you for trusting us with your stories. To our community: thank you for believing in youth voices. ❤️

A special thank you to MPP and Councillor Chris Moise joining us at the launch and celebrating this milestone with our writers and community.

We’re also deeply grateful to for their continued support of INKspire and our programming. Your support helps create opportunities for emerging writers to grow, connect, and share their voices. 📚✨

Signed copies of Rising Voices will also be available at upcoming events across Toronto this month:
📍 Saturday, May 16 | 1–5 PM — Indigo Toronto Eaton Centre
📍 Sunday, May 17 | 1–3 PM — Type Books (Forest Hill)
📍 Sunday, May 31 | 1–3 PM — Book People on Queen

We can’t wait to meet more readers and writers along the way.

Walk into a bookstore and you’ll see more than just shelves; you’ll see stories fighting to be heard.

This piece by Samantha Ti explores the reality behind publishing: getting a book on the shelf is only the beginning. While progress has been made in publishing more diverse voices, the gap in marketing and visibility still holds many BIPOC authors back.

Representation isn’t just about being published; it’s about being seen, supported, and celebrated. Until the industry invests equally, readers play a powerful role in discovering and amplifying these voices.

Which stories are we choosing to notice and which ones are we overlooking?

After reading this article, you might never look at a bookstore the same way again.

One way to build your voice is to explore with others.

During our Writer-in-Residence workshop at Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism, our writer fellows practiced giving peer feedback and learned how to make a writing portfolio. Our wonderful panelists Rebecca Rosenblum, K.M. Fajardo, Emily Macrae, and Rachel Chen provided mentorship and career advice.

Thank you to our Writer-in-Residence Erica Ngao for hosting this event and Ontario Trillium Foundation for funding our Writer Fellowship Program

If you are interested in developing your craft and career as a writer, follow INKspire to stay updated for when applications open to the next cohort of the Writer Fellowship Program.

The winner takes it all.

What is “truth” in the modern age, and who truly controls the narrative?

In this latest piece, Yulia Galyaeva explores the shifting nuances of truth, and how the old warning that “history is written by the victors” has taken on a digital edge. If memory is outsourced whose version of history is actually being preserved?
