June is National Indigenous History Month.

This month is an opportunity to recognize and learn about the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

At LEF, truth and reconciliation is rooted in learning from and with Indigenous Peoples, building meaningful relationships and tacking action through an ongoing journey of learning, reflection, and growth.

During this National Indigenous History Month we would like to invite the community to continue to deepen your understanding of indigenous ways of knowing and our connection to the land, community, and one another.

We invited mothers from the community to a Mother’s Day Playshop!

It was a beautiful afternoon dedicated entirely to the well-being and celebration of mothers from all walks of life.

We intentionally designed an elegant, luxurious space where moms could step away from daily responsibilities to focus on themselves, made possible by our on-site childminding services.

The day combined deep care with professional guidance as a pediatric nurse led heart-to-heart discussions on mental health and parenting, creating a supportive environment where women felt safe to share their experiences.

We closed the event with a professional-led cake decorating session that encouraged laughter and community building through creativity. It was especially impactful to see so many single mothers from the York South–Weston community connecting and feeling truly valued.

Keep an eye out for more upcoming workshops and fun events like this by following our social media and checking our website lefca.org!
