Today, October 1st, is National Seniors Day!

At LEF, we're proud to create welcoming and cozy spaces for seniors where they can connect, stay active, share their culture and languages, and be a part of a vibrant community.

Throughout the year, seniors take part in weekly activities, participate in workshops such as on safety and nutrition, stay fit with Zumba sessions held in partnership with UNISON, and join activities with youth involving games, dancing, and singing.

We are truly thankful for their participation as they allow us to foster a vibrant and inclusive environment for seniors and the broader community, we're grateful for their stories, experiences, cultures, and energy they bring to LEF!

If you or someone you know is interested in joining Seniors @ LEF, call us at 416-769-0830!

Today in Canada, September 30th, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

It is a day to remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour survivors, and reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and communities across Canada.

At the Learning Enrichment Foundation, we are committed to continuing our journey of learning, listening, and building meaningful relationships with Indigenous partners. Reconciliation is an ongoing process, and creating opportunities to learn, connect, and reflect is an important part of that journey.

As a part of this ongoing journey we invite the community to join ceremonies at the new Wiigiwaam behind 2700 Eglinton Ave. W where ceremonies take place every Wednesday at 6:00 PM, following the teachings of Gokoomis (Grandmother) Jacque Lavallée and her family. All nations, peoples, ages, and stages are welcome.

Our colleague Sofia Grande passed away on September 1, we are deeply saddened by this loss.

Sofia had a way of filling every room and every team she was part of with warmth, kindness, and light. Her presence touched the lives of so many people and her absence will be felt.

We know that Sofia will be remembered by the people whose lives she touched through her work and generosity. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
