-1 staff to 2 children ratio

Today, Safehaven recognizes World Cerebral Palsy Day. With some of our clients living with cerebral palsy, this day holds special importance at Safehaven. We celebrate their unique strengths and continue advocating for a more inclusive, accessible world for individuals living with cerebral palsy.

This week, Safehaven celebrated the ribbon cutting of its seventh site, opened in partnership with Reena Foundation in Forest Hill.

For many young people with medical complexities, turning 18 means aging out of pediatric services and entering an adult system that does not always have the services or housing they need. Without the right care in place, individuals can too easily slip through the cracks.

Safehaven’s newest site helps address this gap by creating more capacity for adults to receive the specialized care and support they need in a place they can call home.

We look forward to opening our doors to even more clients and welcoming them to Safehaven!

September brought plenty of fun to Safehaven as clients visited the Aga Khan Museum and settled back into their school routines. Clown therapy, cooking classes and face painting added to September’s activities.

Today, we recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, honouring Survivors of residential schools and remembering the children who never returned home.

Orange Shirt Day reminds us that every child deserves happiness and a sense of belonging. Across Safehaven, staff and clients wore orange today to stand behind its powerful message: Every Child Matters.

As we reflect on the history and lasting impacts of residential schools, we continue to learn and carry the importance of reconciliation forward, today and throughout the year.

We’re officially ONE WEEK AWAY from bringing HOPE across Toronto, and we want you to help us build it!

From October 6-8, our large-scale HOPE installation will make three stops across the city. Come out, add your brick to the HOPE sign and help us bring Brick by Brick to life! Bring your friends and family and join us at a stop along the route:
