Last week, we highlighted sensory kits as a valuable travel tool, but they can be helpful anywhere a child may encounter unfamiliar, busy, or overwhelming environments. Whether that's a hospital, restaurant, theme park, movie theatre, school, or other public spaces.

Because every child has unique sensory needs, sensory kits can be easily customized with tools and supports that work best for them. We've shared a few common items above to help you get started building your own sensory kit!

At Dylan's Roar, we believe every child should have access to sensory supports where they need them most. That's why a portion of our fundraising efforts is dedicated to providing sensory kits to schools across the GTA, helping create more inclusive and supportive environments for autistic and neurodivergent students.

Drop a comment below and let us know “what’s in your sensory kit?”

Get Ready for Summer with Dylan's Roar! All month long we have been providing you with some tips and programs dedicated to autistic and neurodivergent kids, to help make this the best summer yet!

This week we will be highlighting sensory kits! Sensory kits can be a game changer for neurodivergent and anxious travelers. These kits contain tools like fidget items and lap pads for calming and grounding, noise-dampening headphones to reduce overwhelming environmental stimuli, and visual aids like emotion cards to facilitate communication. By offering a way to connect and comfort individuals during these critical times, sensory kits can calm anxious travelers, help prevent moments of overwhelm and make travel experiences enjoyable for all.

You can buy your kits on Amazon.ca or make your own custom kit! Paired with travel social stories, visual schedules and airport apps like Magnus cards, this will aid in reducing sensory stress, and help manage sensory input while traveling.

This week we will be highlighting the Sunflower Lanyards. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Globally 1 in 6 people, that's approximately 1.3 billion individuals, live with a disability. While some disabilities are visible, many are non-apparent and may not be immediately recognized. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple, voluntary way to signal that you may need additional support, patience, or understanding. Recognized at airports, banks, attractions, and other public spaces, the Sunflower helps foster inclusion, acceptance, and awareness.

A small symbol can make a big difference.🌻

Get ready for summer with Dylan’s Roar! All month long, we’ll be sharing tips and programs designed to support autistic and neurodivergent families, helping you make this the best summer yet. This week, we’re highlighting Toronto Pearson Airport ✈️

Through partnerships with Autism Ontario and Magnusmode, Toronto Pearson offers specialized resources to support autistic and neurodiverse travelers and their caregivers. Their step-by-step interactive tool includes checklists and photos to help you feel prepared and confident before arriving at the airport.

Toronto Pearson has also created the My Toronto Pearson Activity Book! Designed with kids in mind, these activity books share helpful information about the airport and check-in process, along with fun activities to keep little travelers entertained.

On March 23rd, our friends at the Ontario Autism Coalition, alongside families, educators, and political representatives, gathered at Queen's Park to raise their voices in support of autistic individuals and their families. The government continues to reduce supports and sideline the voices of those on the frontlines who warn that children, especially those with disabilities, are being left behind. With more than 67,000 children still on the Ontario Autism Program waitlist, too many students are entering classrooms without the support they need.

At Dylan’s Roar, we believe children shouldn’t have to wait for the basics. We are dedicated to fundraising for Sensory Kits, Communication Boards and Sensory Paths, because every child deserves to be heard and supported.

In this video, we have a few examples of what can go into the sensory care kits.

Kits can be as expensive or simplified as needed, based on the use.

Consider donating (link in our bio) to help us create and distribute these care kits to schools and hospitals!
