Engage Difference! comes to Ottawa this February.

If you lead or serve in a community where many cultures share the same pews, you already know: diversity is not yet interculturality. Getting there takes words, habits and courage. That is what these five days are for.

What you will take home:
- Language and frameworks to read cultural difference with less anxiety and more clarity
- Practice in navigating conflict across cultures, with care
- A deeper look at how power and privilege shape your church
- Learning in place, with local Indigenous and racialized partners
- A concrete plan for your own ministry context
- A circle of peers and mentors who keep walking with you

We would love to have you in the room.

February 22-26, 2027 · Kanata United Church, Ottawa
Bursaries available · Registration closes January 31

For almost a year, teams from The Canadian Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches USA have been building something across a border: shared documents, shared budgets, shared prayers, and a shared conviction that the future of the church is something we can only imagine together.

The result is NATI-RETI 2026. Starting August 3, emerging leaders from both countries will travel from Detroit to Toronto asking one honest question: Where now for visible justice?
Working together hasn't always been simple. Real collaboration never is. But somewhere along the way, "your program" and "our program" became simply ours. That shift is what ecumenical leadership is about, and it's the same shift we hope these leaders will carry home.

This is what forming leaders looks like: not preparing people for unity someday, but letting them live it now.

NATI-RETI 2026 is a fully immersive residential theological learning program designed as a pilgrimage across borders — bringing together emerging Christian leaders from the United States and Canada for deep theological reflection and spiritual fellowship.

“In the long history of the relationship of Indigenous Peoples in Canada with other Canadians, it is painfully clear that we, as Christian communities, have often fallen short of living the love and service of Jesus.

As Christian communities we take seriously the challenge of reconciliation, to deepen bonds of friendship and solidarity, to strive to “walk together” in the present and future, and to consult with you about how we can take that journey together.

May the Creator who sees all and knows what is truly in our hearts bring us together in mutual respect and friendship.”
