Goodwood Mercantile not only houses the best Schitt’s Creek collection, but is home to high quality, creative items often found only here. On a beautiful day Iike today, the back doors open onto a secret garden. Stunning!

Just four minutes down the road from Richters is the exquisite Annina’s Bakery, full to the rafters for lunch, the food is THAT delicious! Downstairs, even the local police get their donuts and coffee here. Everything Anninas Bakeshop and Cafe is next level and the prices are very reasonable.

Such a wonderful morning Richters Herbs with Penelope Beaudrow and team, learning, tasting, and touring the inner workings of this landmark destination just 45 minutes away, in gorgeous Goodwood, Ontario. The drive up, with all the fall colours, was a sight to behold!

Remember in May when Paul Oliver from the Urban Nature Store told us to place a row of peanuts on a ledge at the same time each day and the blue jays would come? It works like a charm!

Members took in the sites at this year’s horticultural exhibit: Best Arrangement, the OHA table (well done!), Donna Lewis the Butterfly Queen from the Aurora Garden Club, a fine coleus and sedum, a favourite dahlia and dahlia arrangement, and - believe it or not - a stunning 545 lb. pumpkin!

Let’s prepare the gardens at 38 Ellerslie Ave. for a bit of a seasonal shift. All hands appreciated. Just bring your gardening gloves, some basic tools, a water bottle, and sunscreen!

Thank you, Sayeh Beheshti, for a wonderful seed saving workshop to start populating our new seed bank, and for the special plants! Thanks to Swan L. as well, for the precious seeds and starter plants. In addition, we would like to recognize the Flower & Vegetable Show team who did Lorraine proud: Mary Ann N., Angela B., Belinda T., Soo-Ling H., and Gloria B. Our judge was Sherry Howard. The tea and treats table was a standout! Thanks to Rosa Maria dB., Nahid M., Natasha M., Helen B., and Rosalinda D. Always appreciated was Sarah F. for running the 50/50 draw and donations table. Gloria B., thank you for the donations from your backyard give-away in support of the Club. Finally, thank you to our Board and club leaders for a successful meeting. It was wonderful to meet some of our newest members - we hope you had a great time and we loved learning with you! See you all for our next meeting on October 26 at 7:30 PM.
