Sometimes being the dependable one feels good. It can give us purpose, connection, and a sense of being valued.

But when so much of your identity becomes tied to what you do for others, it can be surprisingly hard to know what you need when things finally get quiet.

You’re allowed to be more than the helper, the fixer, or the one everyone counts on. There’s space for you in your own life, too.

ADHD can affect much more than attention.

It can shape how someone experiences time, motivation, focus, routines, transitions, and everyday tasks. Some days, things may feel manageable. Other days, even getting started can take a surprising amount of effort.

ADHD also looks different from person to person. What helps one person may not help another, which is why understanding, flexibility, and the right supports can make such a difference.

This ADHD Awareness Month, we’re making space for a fuller picture of ADHD - one that includes both the challenges and the strengths, without reducing someone to a stereotype.

đź’™ Different needs. Different strengths. Same worth.

If this resonated with you and you’d like a supportive space to talk through what you’re experiencing, South Etobicoke Therapy is here to help.

You can book a session or consultation through the link in our bio.

Today, we hold space for remembrance, reflection, and the stories that must never be forgotten.

On Orange Shirt Day, we honour the children, families, Survivors, and communities affected by the residential school system, while recognizing that its impacts did not end with the closing of the schools.

Reconciliation asks more of us than remembrance alone. It asks us to keep learning, to listen to Indigenous voices, and to carry that understanding into how we show up for one another and our communities.

If this post speaks to you, consider sharing it as one small way to help keep these stories visible and the conversation moving forward.

🧡 Every Child Matters.

When was the last time you slowed down long enough to notice what's happening in your own body? 🌿

As women, we spend so much energy tracking for our kids, our partners, our work… and so little tuning in to ourselves.

Janet and I have dreamed of creating this retreat since we met 15 years ago. Let Go & Flow brings together psychotherapy, yoga, Thai massage and somatic healing in one beautiful space, so you can slow down, reconnect, and be present with what is, with support.

Sometimes healing needs more than a 50-minute hour. ✨

A therapeutic influenced retreat gives you space to slow down, unplug from daily stressors, and go deeper into the work - without the clock running.

A few relaxing days can offer:

🌿 Uninterrupted time to process, without a packed schedule
🧠 Deeper nervous system regulation through extended mindfulness & breathwork
🤝 Connection - many retreats blend individual reflection with group support
🔄 A reset that helps new insights actually stick

Retreats aren’t a replacement for ongoing therapy - think of them as an accelerant.

Our October retreat is coming up 🍂 - details are in our pinned post above!

Healing doesn’t always feel like progress 🌿

Sometimes, it looks like setting boundaries, noticing your emotions instead of pushing them away, asking for help, or responding to difficult situations differently than you used to.

Here are a few signs you may be healing, even if you don’t feel “better” yet:

• You’re becoming more aware of your emotions
• You’re setting boundaries without feeling as guilty
• You’re learning to be kinder to yourself
• You’re no longer ignoring what you need
• You’re recognizing patterns you want to change
• You’re reaching out for support when you need it

Healing isn’t always linear, and you don’t have to feel completely okay to be making progress.

If you’re ready to explore what healing could look like for you, South Etobicoke Therapy offers therapy and support in Mimico, Etobicoke.

📍 2405 Lake Shore Blvd W, Suite 302
đź’» In-person appointments available
🤍 Free 15-minute consultation

Save this post as a reminder: progress can be happening even when you can’t see it yet.
