Today marks the anniversary of the 1917 Battle of Vimy Ridge, where all four Canadian divisions fought together for the first time and achieved victory.

Through careful planning, coordination, and innovation, the Canadian forces captured a heavily defended German position that others had failed to take.

This day is especially important to Canadians as it represents unity, sacrifice, and a defining moment when Canada began to emerge with a stronger, independent national identity on the world stage.

Vimy Ridge day commemorates the soldiers and individuals who chose to fight in this battle and to remind us that their sacrifice will always be remembered.
