Two OVA coaches have been named among the 2026 Ontario Coaching Excellence Award winners - the highest coaching honour in the province across all sports and levels.

Craig Hayter (London) and Jenny Pellegrino (Hamilton) have both been selected for the Hydro One Safe Play Award, recognized for the integral role they play with their athletes, their sport, and their communities.

Both coaches will be celebrated alongside 13 other award recipients from across Ontario at a special VIP event on September 19, 2026 at BMO Field in Toronto.

This recognition is well deserved, Craig and Jenny. We're proud of you both!

History made for the Canadian women's national team program! The group defeated the United States to claim their first NORCECA Championship, yesterday in the Dominican Republic.

Andrea Mitrovic, Katerina Georgiadis, Anna Smrek and Jazmine White were the Ontarians that were a part of this historic moment. London native and multi-Olympian, TJ Sanders was the teams' 2nd Assistant Coach.

Smrek and Mitrovic led Canada in the medal match with 20 and 16 points, respectively.

The team will look to secure their spot in the LA 2028 Olympics this weekend in the Final 4 Olympic Qualifier.

In Puerto Rico, a handful of Ontarians are donning the national jersey again in the NORCECA Men's Final Six tournament. The group recently won the bronze medal earlier in the month at the Pan American Cup.

Erik Siksna, Arthur Szwarc, Kaden Schmidt, Parker Ocampo, Trent Cherewaty, Cole Duncanson and Daniil Hershtynovich are the Ontario athletes represented on the Canadian team helmed by Dave Preston (OVA Hall of Fame '23) and Matthew Harris.

Bronze again. Second year running. Canada beat Mexico in four sets Sunday in Morelos to take third at the Pan American Cup, and two Ontario guys were right in the middle of it.

Arthur Szwarc, from Toronto, led the whole team with 17 points. Trent Cherewaty, out of Mulmur, was part of the block that shut Mexico down at the net. Canada out-blocked them 12-5, which is what actually won this match. Down 22-21 in the fourth, Canada reeled off three straight points to close it out.

Coach David Preston put it plainly after the semifinal loss the day before: the group didn't repeat their mistakes. Sunday, they didn't.
