What a joyful event! On May 21st, we celebrated Asian Heritage Month at AccessPoint on Danforth with dance, music, fashion, food, and more!

We had art from Krishna, a local artist, community kids and youth performing classical dance, and art and henna stations for the whole family. Our amazing volunteer Vasavi made and shared her delicious poha, and snacks from South and East Asia were enjoyed at our popular "Flavours in Boom" snack station.

Thank you to the volunteers and staff who supported this event, as well as the many clients and community members who came out to celebrate!

The volunteers on our Board of Directors play a vital role in driving meaningful, long-term change across the communities we serve.

Each board member brings a unique blend of knowledge, lived experience, and professional expertise. Through their leadership and strategic guidance, they drive our mission to improve health outcomes for newcomers across Toronto. Through strong equity values and a passion for newcomer health and wellbeing, board members empower our communities and strengthen our organization.

Rudayna shares that, “Serving as a board member with Access Alliance has been a fulfilling experience to work among board, staff, and volunteers committed to advancing more equitable, thriving communities…. As a daughter of immigrants and observing those in my own life struggling to navigate the health system, being a part of the movement towards health equity is vitally important to me.”

Today marks the last day of National Volunteer Week, and we want to say a huge thank you to ALL of our volunteers for everything you do supporting programs and events at Access Alliance. While it's been our privilege to feature 5 amazing volunteers this week, there are hundreds more welcoming, cooking, organizing, fixing, cleaning, guiding, gardening, and more—behind the scenes.

Access Alliance volunteers change lives every day of the year. We couldn't do the work we do without you. 💖

✨ Together, we can all create sparks of impact. ✨
