We are a leader in community-based research and advocacy on issues related to the determinants of health and wellbeing and increasing access to services for marginalized groups. We actively seek to break down silos and build linkages with other agencies to increase access to the services needed by immigrants and refugees. Access Alliance also operates a fee-for-service interpretation and translation service employing a network of professionals who provide quality services in more than 200 languages. We're looking for reliable snow shovellers to clear snow for seniors in Toronto's east end from November 2026 to March 2027.

Qualified snow shovellers are paid $20/hour, with a minimum of 1 hour of pay per assignment.

📣Join us on October 5th, as we explore what's needed to build culturally responsive and accessible mental health services for African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) children and youth in Ontario.

We'll take a deep dive into the intersections of anti-racism, micro-aggressions, colourism, and mental health, exploring how they affect Black children and youth. Learn about the lived experiences of ACB children and youth in Ontario, and hear from experts in the field.

The From Policing to Community Engagement project aims to develop evidence-based recommendations for culturally responsive community mental health care models to improve the well-being and quality of life for Black children and youth. This project also aims to support the development of a community-led, population-health–based approach to mental health crisis responses that reduces reliance on policing. Instead, the goal is to have crises responded to in ways that prioritize culturally concordant care, delivered through community health services. This project is led by Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services in partnership with Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre.

We hope you can join us! Everyone is welcome to attend. This session will be of particular interest to community organizations serving Black children and youth, academics, researchers, and community members.

At Access Alliance, we honour today as a day of reflection of the history and legacy of trauma related to the Residential School system across Canada. We remember and honour the Survivors, their families, and the many children who never returned home.

We are committed to advancing truth and reconciliation, as individuals and as an organization, and recognize that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #93, “We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with the national Aboriginal organizations, to revise the information kit for newcomers to Canada and its citizenship test to reflect a more inclusive history of the diverse Aboriginal peoples of Canada, including of information about the Treaties and the history of residential schools” remains stalled. As a newcomer-serving organization, we see the gap this creates, and commit to building a better understanding of Indigenous history, including the history and legacy of Residential Schools, with our clients and the communities we support.
