B2C was formed in 2004 by theatre artists Lauren Brotman and Jack Grinhaus.

B2C aims to provoke and charge the soul by creating intense, highly theatrical, and visceral productions that explore dark themes, rich texts, and have a modern and social relevance to the world today. We are keenly interested in the beauty, boldness, and truth born from confronting the challenges that face the human spirit. We present familiar themes in unfamiliar ways through the art forms of th

eatre and film, striving for full theatrical and cinematic experiences. Since its inception, B2C has produced nearly a dozen productions, introducing audiences to new works, premieres of plays that include World Premieres (Isitwendam, Tabula Rasa, The Complex), the North American Premiere of debbie tucker green and her poetic masterpiece dirty butterfly, reimaginings of classics (Phaedra’s Lust, Saved, Shakespeare Unfolded, Hedda Noir). B2C has garnered strong critical and audience response, and has been nominated for numerous local and national awards. In development: The film Elle’s Valley and the plays She Carries Me Again , Painting the Streets and Wallflower.

✨Excited to share that today we begin a new phase of development for ‘She Carries Me Again’ with Handsome Alice Theatre, an incredible champion of women playwrights and brave new works.

B2C has been developing this new play for some time. Written by Lauren Brotman, it is our most personal project yet. We will always remember your beautiful open heart and welcoming warmth. Even in the earliest days when we were starting out, for me as part of the Soulpepper Training Company, for Jack when he assisted on Ghosts, you treated us with kindness and dignity, every day, every year. Onstage you exposed yourself with total vulnerability and authenticity. Pure in spirit. Pure in craft.

You will be missed but in no way forgotten. Your soul will always live, vibrant as ever. Glowing. Radiating.

There were many who knew Joe far better than us and our hearts go out to Nancy, your family, your friends. Rest well, beautiful heart. ✨

21 years ago Jack Grinhaus and I founded Bound to Create Theatre, as co-Artistic Directors in Toronto. We’ve made a lot of work, keeping the company small while to be able to work outside of B2C. We’ve moved several times, rebuilding and reshaping B2C along the way. As current A.D., since our move to Calgary 3 years ago, I have been re-establishing myself as an actor~creator while slowly and quietly re-establishing our company, Jack now at the helm of .

We have been fortunate to work on productions we care about, collaborating with Calgary’s gifted artists.

Last night were the Betty Mitchell Awards 🏆. I feel proud to have been nominated, along with multiple members of the Mary Stuart team with our brilliant friend receiving Outstanding Direction for the show 👑 and Vertigo receiving multiple awards. ⚜️

I want to acknowledge the for putting on a class-act night and to congratulate all the nominees, winners, and the Calgary Theatre community for the work and artistry that we are fortunate to be a part of. 👏

B2C has some excited news coming. 📣 Stay tuned. Congratulation everyone on a fantastic 2024•2025 season. Bravo. Brava. To all. 💫
