Something strange is happening.

Every year, 15 new tech companies emerge from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology

A study by Stanford Graduate School of Business revealed that Technion graduates are 25x more likely to found a US-based unicorn company than graduates from other universities.

ranked the Technion in 10th place globally for the number of bachelor’s degree graduates who founded companies.

What do you think is driving this unique level of entrepreneurial output?

Did you know the Technion mirrors the full diversity of Israel’s society, including a 20% Arab student population?

At the Technion, students and faculty from different backgrounds, countries, and religions all come together, united by curiosity and purpose.

7% of the world's irrigated land uses technology developed by a Technion - Israel Institute of Technology graduate.

In 1966, Raphael Mehoudar solved two major problems plaguing early drip irrigation with an elegant engineering solution.

He created a self-adjusting valve that compensates for pressure differences to account for uneven water distribution and designed zigzag channels to prevent sediment clogging.

Today, this technology conserves billions of gallons annually while reducing emissions by 53% compared to flood irrigation. Solar-powered systems based on these principles now provide food security to millions in Africa and Rwanda.

This week, as farmers in Israel gather grain and Jewish communities worldwide mark Shavuot, we're reminded that cultivation matters. The careful tending of ideas, the patient engineering of solutions, the deliberate passing of knowledge from one generation to the next.

Chag Shavuot Sameach.

When a building is destroyed in war or a natural disaster, rescue teams need blueprints, fast. Researchers from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and University of Haifa developed an AI-powered system that can instantly locate a damaged building’s construction permit, analyze it, and send rescuers critical engineering information directly to their phones in real time.

Until now, many cities relied on physically searching archives and couriering printed permits to emergency teams, costing precious time during life-or-death operations. The new tool cuts through that delay, helping first responders understand a structure faster and potentially save more lives.

In places like British Columbia, where wildfires or earthquakes can collapse entire neighborhoods, and in Israel, where repeated conflicts have left buildings damaged and unstable, this kind of instant access can mean the difference between minutes lost and lives saved.

Mother's Day is one day. Moms show up the other 364. Whether they're decoding the secrets of the cell, shaping the next generation of engineers, or out in Toronto fundraising for the Technion and then racing home to take their kid to hockey practice, thank you for inspiring us everyday 💙🐻

Wishing all mothers a day of peace, connection, and pride.

This Lag Ba'Omer, we're highlighting a curious Technion story.

For two decades, Rabbi Dr. Eliyahu Rahamim Zini held an unusual dual role at the Technion. He was a senior mathematics lecturer and the campus rabbi. He created pathways for engineering students to seriously engage with religious scholarship alongside their technical studies. To Zini, both mathematics and Talmud require rigorous analytical thinking. Both search for truth so why separate them?

As we mark Lag Ba'Omer, we're celebrating educators who refused to accept artificial boundaries.

7,000 people, 468 booths, and over 16,000 steps taken by one very tired but happy Technion Canada attendee!

Yesterday, the 2026 Montreal Jewish Unity Expo delivered on every front: incredible businesses, meaningful connections, and a community showing up in full force. Days like this remind us why we love Montreal and its community 💙 Worth every step!

For over a century, the Technion has been a home for dreamers, builders, and believers. They transformed an audacious hope of a Jewish homeland into a powerhouse nation driven by scientific innovation. This , we honour the generations who shaped Israel’s past… and the Technion scientists shaping its future.

💙 Happy 78th, Israel.
