Whenever you collect minerals in Nova Scotia, have you considered Ross Creek in the Bay of Fundy?

Minerals collected there normally include Agate, Stilbite (the provincial mineral of Nova Scotia), and Heulandite.

Today marked our fifth and final day of a trip out to the Bonnechere Valley and Gatineau Valley areas! Just a shame that our actual final day got rained out. 😕

No pun intended but we parked at the Parker Mine in the beautiful province of Quebéc.

Mineral findings?
- Forsterite
- Black Spinel
- Calcite
-And other minerals!

Today marked our fourth day of a trip out to the Bonnechere Valley and Gatineau Valley areas!

We hopped over to Yates Urinanum Mine, in Otter Lake, Quebéc
Mineral findings?

Mostly Apatite, red and green
Both clear and purple Fluorite
Orange Calcite, TONS of it
And other minerals

History of the site:
The deposit was originally worked for phlogopite and fluorite in 1906-1907 by the Calumet Mica Co. and later by Mr. A.G. Martin of Ottawa. The workings consisted of a few pits, the deepest measuring 20 feet (ca. 6 m). In 1943-44, Twin Valley Prospecting Syndicate mined 18 tons of fluorite from the deposit. In 1950 Mr. J.M. Yates
discovered the presence of a radioactive mineral,
uranothorite, and Yates Uranium Mines Inc. was
formed to develop the property. Development
consisted of a 300 ft (ca. 91 m) adit, 2 open cuts, and diamond drilling.

Then, on what was a pretty hot day alright, we were at the Miller Property and Smart Mine, circa. 1880s, day two.
