Happy October, Everyone!

This Wednesday, October 14th, at 8pm, Bill Lechner will be presenting all about the Francon Quarry in Montreal. The topics will include some insight into the geology and history of the quarry, but the main emphasis will be on the minerals, of course.

Come join us at seven o'clock for refreshments, a social opportunity and getting to meet the speaker!
We are located at the University of Toronto,
Earth Sciences Centre at 22 Ursula Franklin Street, Room 2093.

Welcome to beautiful southern Ontario!
Today, as day one out of two, we're off in a quarry hunting for Blue Celestine (Sensitive to sunset over long periods!), Orange Calcite (Florescent Salmon Pink), and Marcasite. Boy, was that Marcasite impressive!
Including more, such as Fluorite, Pyrite, and more.

tonight, Wednesday, September 9th -7:15 pm for networking followed by our speaker at 8 pm.
The meeting is at the University of Toronto, Earth Sciences Centre at 22 Ursula Franklin Street, Room 2093.

For our first meeting back since June, we will be welcoming Beth Gilhespy and her work on the geology of the Bruce, or Saugeen, of the Ojibway First Nations peoples, Peninsula in Five Hikes.

Beth Gilhespy will tell the Saugeen, or Bruce, Peninsula's remarkable story through five spectacular hikes from her book Walking Through Time: Exploring the Geology of the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula. From ancient tropical seas and fossil-rich dolostone cliffs, to glacial
landforms and karst landscapes, each hike reveals how the past 450 million years of geological history has shaped the Peninsula we know today. Books in the Walking Through Time series will
be available for sale.

The Saint John River drops over a series of ledges into a dramatic, rocky gorge right in the middle of town.

Minerals collected there normally include Agate, Stilbite (the provincial mineral of Nova Scotia), and Heulandite.

Today marked our fifth and final day of a trip out to the Bonnechere Valley and Gatineau Valley areas! Just a shame that our actual final day got rained out. 😕

No pun intended but we parked at the Parker Mine in the beautiful province of Quebéc.

Mineral findings?
- Forsterite
- Black Spinel
- Calcite
-And other minerals!
