Cinema Politica UofT

Cinema Politica UofT We screen films that challenge conventional narratives, that explore under-represented stories, and that engage our campus and community. Join us!

Cinema Politica UofT is back and is now an initiative of Harvest Noon (Toronto Sustainable Food Co-op)! Our film screenings aim to engage co-op, campus and community members in critical issues surrounding equity, direct action, environmental justice and more. We screen films that explore stories of oppression and resistance that are often excluded from the mainstream media and that challenge conve

ntional narratives. We also think it's important to link screenings to local issues, discuss how the content of the film relates to our own experiences and what action we can take collectively. Over the years, the Cinema Politica UofT local has received support from the Ontario Public Interest Research Group - Toronto (OPIRG Toronto), the University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU), the Association of Part Time Undergraduate Students (APUS) and the University of Toronto Students' Union (UTSU). CINEMA POLITICA is a Montreal-based media arts, non-profit network of community and campus locals that screen independent political film and video by Canadian and international artists throughout Canada and abroad. We believe in the power of art to not only entertain but to engage, inform, inspire, and provoke social change. Cinema Politica is the largest volunteer-run, community and campus-based documentary-screening network in the world. All screenings are by donation.
