The next generation of CRE leaders is here. Are we giving them enough reason to stay?

Today, BOMA Canada is pleased to release the 2026 BOMA Canada Emerging Leaders Industry Survey Report, offering a closer look at what emerging leaders value, where they see opportunity and what could influence their decision to build a long-term career in commercial real estate.

The findings show that emerging talent is committed to the industry. They value the work, the people and the opportunities CRE offers.

But commitment alone isn’t enough.

When career paths aren’t clear, leadership opportunities feel out of reach, or the next step isn’t easy to see, talented professionals may begin looking elsewhere.

The question isn’t whether emerging talent wants to be part of CRE. It’s whether the industry is doing enough to keep them.

What an exciting time we had at BOMEX Ottawa 2026!

BOMA Enspire was thrilled to connect with so many building professionals, share ideas, and showcase the impact of our programs throughout the conference.

With 80+ attendees at the Building Operators Forum, DJ "Dr. DRAI" spinning tunes during the BOMA Enspire Awards Luncheon celebrating leaders in emissions reduction, engaging education sessions, and meaningful conversations at the Enspire & EPICS Marketplace displays, it was an incredible few days of learning and connections.

This September 30, BOMA Canada is inviting building owners and managers to light or decorate their building’s exterior in orange in honour of residential school survivors, their families, and the children who never made it home.

The colour traces back to Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at a residential school in 1973. Her story became the foundation for Orange Shirt Day and the Every Child Matters movement.
