On Sunday, May 24th, the CLB Regimental Band proudly led the 27th CLB Trinity-Conception Battalion Spring Church Parade and participated in the service at St. John the Evangelist in Coley’s Point, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Since 1892, The CLB has been empowering youth and developing leaders through programs focused on leadership, discipline, teamwork and respect.

We are truly honoured to be invited to take part in this special event each year. It means a great deal to us to support the Battalion and all of the youth involved.

You never know…. One of those youth marching may be one of our future band members!

It was a wonderful day for a parade!

Thank you again to HMCS Cabot for inviting the CLB Regimental Band to lead the parade and participate in the ceremony for the 81st Annual Battle of the Atlantic Parade that was held today, Sunday, May 3rd.

The Battle of the Atlantic (1939-1945) was the longest continuous campaign of WWII.

Newfoundland was a critical strategic hub for this battle and St. John's served as a vital base for the Newfoundland Es**rt Force, which protected Allied convoys from German U-boats. The battle brought the war to local shores, sinking ships near the coast and causing significant casualties.

Many members of The CLB did serve during this battle, although not as a unit under the CLB name. Many former members went on to enlist in the armed forces, including service in The Royal Navy, The Royal Canadian Navy and the Merchant Navy.

Special thanks to Major Joe Skanes for the photographs.

Did you know that no previous CLB experience or church affiliation is required to join the CLB Regimental Band?

We are a community-based, volunteer band made up of musicians from all backgrounds. It is our enjoyment of music and performing for others that draws us together.

Our band plays a wide variety of music, including marches, concert band pieces, big band tunes, show tunes and more!

Whether you played in School, Cadets, etc., are an experienced player or just getting back into it, we’d love to have you join us.

Don’t worry if you have never worn a uniform or marched before. We provide you with a uniform and will teach you how to march!

We rehearse from 7:30 - 9:30pm on Monday and Thursday nights at the Walter F. Learning Rehearsal Hall that is located upstairs at The CLB Armoury, 82 Harvey Road, St. John’s.

If you are over 16 years old and interested, we would love to have you sit in on a rehearsal. Please contact us, in advance, so we can have music ready for you to play. Email us at: [email protected]

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week April 19th - 25th, 2026, it is fitting to recognize the incredible individuals who make up the The CLB Regimental Band.

Based right here in Newfoundland and Labrador, the CLB Regimental Band is comprised entirely of volunteers who give their time, talent and passion to music and community service. Every rehearsal, every performance and every community event reflects their dedication and pride.

This year’s theme, “Ignite Volunteerism,” is about sparking passion, reconnecting communities and recognizing the powerful role volunteers play in creating positive change. Our band members embody this every day through their commitment to service, strengthening community ties and fostering a sense of belonging through music.

Volunteerism is not one size fits all and this week encourages everyone to “find your thing” to use your own skills, energy, and passion to make a difference. The members of the CLB Regimental Band have certainly found theirs.

As part of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, we are reminded that even local acts of service contribute to something much greater.

We would like to thank all of our band members for everything they do. Their impact reaches far beyond the music.

The CLB Regimental Band was pleased to accept an invitation from Cambridge Estates to perform for residents on Thursday, April 9th.

The band played for over two hours! The residents were highly engaged and showed how much they enjoyed the performance. Their enthusiasm made the event especially rewarding.

Our members, volunteers from all walks of life, equally enjoyed the experience. Opportunities like this highlight how much they value playing together, especially when their music is so well received.

Thank you again to Cambridge Estates for the warm welcome and for the photo!
