hi friends!

we're looking for volunteers :) want to be involved with fat babes of NL but don't have the capacity for a board level position? we're creating a group chat on facebook and instagram for people who we can reach out to before events with specific tasks we need help with! must be located on the avalon.

how it works:

we'll post in the chat describing what we're looking for (example: volunteers to help sort clothes before a swap, volunteers to give out bracelets at the door for a night of the big babe, volunteers to help with picking up pizza for a pool party etc) we'll share the date, time, and event details. if you're available, you can let us know and we'll assign you to the duty!

this will be capacity based and you're not expected to take on everything! we're hoping to have as many hands as possible who can step in when available :)

Today marks the end of an era as we say goodbye to one of our OG Fat Babes, Sarah Murphy 🥹💕 We couldn’t let her go without giving her the biggest shoutout for everything she has done to bring Fat Babes of NL to life. Without Sarah, there would be no FBNL. 🫶🏻

Back in 2021, Sarah had the idea to create a space where plus-size folks in Newfoundland could come together, connect, and feel truly accepted. She reached out to myself (Adrianna), and our other two founding members Holland, and Claire, and from the day the four of us sat down in Bannerman Park with a blank notebook and a dream, FBNL has only continued to grow. What started as four new friends with some ideas to create a space of inclusivity has blossomed into a community of over 2,000 members and events that just keep getting bigger and better. Over the past five years, we’ve created a space of love, acceptance, friendship, and belonging that we truly needed here in our little province.

Sarah was the push that got us started, and we will forever be grateful that she had the vision to dream up something that has become so much bigger than any of us could have imagined. We genuinely wouldn’t be here without her. While we’re so sad to see our girl leave Newfoundland, we’re also SO excited for the next chapter waiting for her in Toronto with her beautiful partner. Sarah will always be a Fat Babe, no matter where life takes her. 💗

We love you, Sarah!!!! Thank you for everything. 🫶🏻💕

WE'RE BACK WITH ANOTHER AUGUST POOL PARTY IN COLLABORATION WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD! 🫶🏻

we're switching things up for the august pool party this year! we wanna keep things fresh and exciting and create an opportunity for those who aren't keen on pics or pizza :) instead of a photoshoot and pizza party we've decided to keep this one photo free and use our funds to create some super cool picnic baskets with a lunch, and a bunch of goodies so that after the swim you can take your baskets and head out to the park or wherever you please to enjoy a lil picnic with a picnic blanket, a sandwich, lemonade, and a bunch of other fun surprises 💖 there will also be some goodies donated by

You know what that means! It's FAT BABE SUMMER! We're back with our most popular event of the year 😊 Fat Babes of NL Pool Party: July Edition in collaboration with St.John's Pride! 🌈🦩

You know the drill babes! We bring the safe space for fat babes / q***r babes / allies / all of the above - to enjoy the summer sun in a positive, no judgement zone 💖

FBNL POOL PARTY #8. JULY 11TH, 2026. EMT $20 (or PWYC) to [email protected] 💕 please include a note on the EMT or send a separate email letting us know attendee names/pronouns. first come first serve! see you at the pool!

Your ticket includes:

Private outdoor swim at Bannerman Park from 12-1 with a group of fat baddies who accept you for you. Wear the bikini! Show off the stretch marks! Flaunt the scars! We want nothing more for you to be comfortable being YOU.

Photoshoot from THE one and only . Tanias ability to make people comfortable in their own skin is UNMATCHED. Head over to them in the pool and bring your best pose ideas. Not sure what to do? Feel awkward taking pics? She's there to help! We promise you'll leave with some high quality insta content 🥰 (photos are totally optional and there is NO pressure to be in them if you choose not to, we'll have a specific area designated for pics).

Pizza party from 1-2! There will be lots of pizza, drinks and snacks. If you're coming alone have no fear! We always have a bunch of solo babes that join us! Tables and chairs will be set up in rows so you can grab a seat, grab a slice, and maybe even make some friends!!! The best part about these parties is you almost always leave with a new pal.

There is also always an option to stay for the free public swim to follow at 1pm, but keep in mind that those will be open to the public 🙂

‘Tis the season to swap!!🧥👖🧣🧤 Fat Babes of NL has been busy preparing for our last clothing swap of 2025 and are so ready to spread the news! Join us for our winter clothing swap!

🗓️WHEN: Sunday, December 14, 2025
⏰TIME: 12pm-5pm
📍WHERE: St. John’s Status of Women’s Centre (170 Cashin Avenue Ext - please see map in the graphic)
🙋WHO: You, babe!!! Fat Babes of NL is for all fat/plus size folks of all genders, ages, sizes, etc.
💓WHY: You love fun, friendship, and finding new treasures for loved ones, gifts, and for yourself!

Bring whatever you’d like to swap with you on swap day, but nothing to swap is required to shop! Message us for information about our advance donation sites if you cant make it or prefer to not hold on to your items.
