Professional firefighters from Central Saanich, Colwood, CFB Esquimalt, Esquimalt, Langford, Nanaimo, North Saanich, Oak Bay, Saanich, Salt Spring Island, Sidney, Sooke, View Royal, and Victoria, in association with the Victoria Golden Tide, Victoria HarbourCats, Victoria Royals, Victoria Shamrocks, and the University of Victoria Vikes hockey teams, are pleased to announce the results of our February 21 fundraiser in support of Tumbler Ridge.

The communities we serve showed an incredible amount of kindness and generosity, donating $42,357.00 in just six hours.

Members from all fire departments and sports teams gathered today on the back steps of the BC Legislature for a group photo and cheque presentation.

Nicole Noksana, Chair of the Tumbler Ridge PAC, will accept the donations on behalf of the community. Twenty-five percent of the total funds will be set aside to support local first responders, ensuring they continue to look after one another during this difficult time.

We sincerely extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the communities we serve for entrusting us with their donations, and to everyone who demonstrated a truly Canadian response in the face of such tragic events.

It has been our honour to make a difference together.

I would like to thank all the members who came out and battled the elements today, but I would really like to thank everyone who came by and showed their support for the Tumble Ridge fundraiser put on by multiple fire departments from Salt Salt Spring to Nanaimo. I would like to pass on that The Sidney Fire Fighter IAFF 5282 and The Sidney Volunteer Firefighters Association together raised $5,203.04 today. Again we would like to thank everyone who stopped by said hi and made a donation.

From 12:00–4:00 PM, Firefighters will be stationed at locations across Greater Victoria, the Westshore, Peninsula, Nanaimo, and Salt Spring Island collecting donations and connecting with the community.

This is a grassroots effort driven by firefighters who simply want to help fellow British Columbians when they need it most. Every dollar donated makes a difference.
