The Royal Canadian Navy’s reach extends across every corner of this vast nation—a truth reflected in the naming of Canada’s second Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, HMCS Margaret Brooke. The vessel honours Saskatchewan native and Nursing Sister Margaret Brooke, who was born in Ardath, Sask.

⚓ Give them a place to learn, lead, and belong.

Navy League Cadets is an exciting youth program where kids can build confidence, make new friends, learn new skills, and challenge themselves in a positive and supportive environment.

At #18 NLCC H.M. Weir, cadets learn skills that will stay with them well beyond the program, including leadership, citizenship, teamwork, discipline, seamanship, drill, knot tying, naval traditions and more. And it’s not all classroom and parade training — we also hold monthly Sports Nights, along with other activities and special events throughout the year.

⚓ Who can join?
Navy League Cadets is open to children ages 9–12.* No previous experience is necessary!

📅 Wednesday evenings
⏰ 6:30–9:00 PM
📍 HMCS Unicorn, 405 24th Street East, Saskatoon

Whether your child is outgoing and looking for their next adventure, or a little quieter and looking for a place to build confidence and find their people, there’s a place for them at H.M. Weir.

Come see what Navy League Cadets is all about! New cadets are welcome. ⚓🇨🇦

*Cadets remain eligible provided they turn 12 after September 1st.

There’s something powerful about watching Saskatchewan youth build confidence through teamwork, discipline, and wholesome recreation—and that’s exactly what Navy League Cadets are doing. Across Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Yorkton and beyond, cadets are strengthening character through responsibility, honesty, integrity, and respect, while learning real-world skills and maritime traditions. Parents and guardians value the structure and safety of a volunteer-led program that helps young people grow physically and mentally. If you care about community-minded youth development, this is a story worth knowing.
