The Saskatchewan Dental Therapists Association (SDTA) played a key role in resurrecting the Canadian Dental Therapists Association (CDTA) in 2019 as a subcommittee of the SDTA. This commitment had a strong goal of strengthening a national presence and advancing advocacy for Dental Therapists across Canada.
At the April 2026 SDTA Council meeting, Council passed a motion to recognize the CDTA as the official association representing Dental Therapy in Saskatchewan and across Canada—an important step in unifying and strengthening the profession at a national level.
In conjunction with the 2026 SDTA Annual Conference in April, the new CDTA hosted its first public Annual General Meeting (AGM). This milestone marked the beginning of rebuilding the association through the election of a Board of Directors and the growth of national membership.
Congratulations to the following members who have been elected to serve on the CDTA Board:
Cyerra Powder – President (1 year remaining in 2-year term)
Lynne Coulter-Watt – Vice President (2-year term)
Celeste Derkach – Secretary (1-year term)
Patricia Skalicky – Treasurer (2-year term )
Lynne Lefevre – Member at Large (2-year term)
Jody Robinson – Member at Large (1-year term)
We encourage all Dental Therapists to consider joining the CDTA and taking advantage of the benefits that support and strengthen your profession at a national level.
