It's been quite the week - as members from our new PT/SL Unit participated in the Canadian Labour Congress, our first member-lead PT/SL Faculty Divisional, and ongoing bargaining activities.

This Divisional saw the collaborative process of our members making our first by-laws, the election of our Precarious Workers Committee, presentations from our other CAAT units' leadership, and a continued discussion on what matters most to our members as we continue to bargain for a fair, first collective agreement.

During this Divisional, we heard from our diverse members about the barriers and systemic issues they experience in their college workplaces. Despite the variety of hardships experienced, members in attendance were vocal about raising the floor for all college workers, improving the quality of education for our students, and organising together (across Locals and divisions) to .

One thing became clear for all units - we all feel precarious in the jobs we are passionate about and the difficulty that it creates in teaching/supporting our students. As wall-to-wall CAAT, faculty and support staff (part-time & full-time) stand in solidarity against the dismantling of our public college system and will fight for the community colleges our communities deserve.

THIS SATURDAY - Fight Ford Protest in front of MPP Bob Bailey's office in Sarnia

We can't afford Doug Ford's corruption. We demand that our MPPs fight for our communities, not Ford's billionaire friends!

Happy May Day!
Today – International Workers’ Day – is when most of the world gathers in solidarity to celebrate workers, labour rights, and to continue the struggle for social justice for working-class people.

We're stronger together! ✊

Yesterday, the first-ever College Faculty Part-Time and Sessional Bargaining Team met with the employer to begin negotiations.

And the first time in OPSEU/SEFPO’s history, they were joined today at the table by solidarity guests from all four college divisions: part-time/sessional college faculty, part-time college support, full-time college support, and full-time/partial-load college faculty.

Representatives from EVERY division faced the employer together, speaking directly to the devastating impacts of lack of transparency on college workers across Ontario. The union also delivered an Unfair Labour Practice (ULP) filed around the employer’s failure to disclose the merger between Fleming College and St. Lawrence College.

When you come for one of us, you come for all of us. We are one big union and unity at the table is how we win 💪

TODAY - Wear red or purple to show your support for teachers and education workers.
There will be a protest in front of MPP Bob Bailey's office at 4pm. All are welcome!

Today, we are united 🔴🟣

Across Ontario, teachers and education workers are joining together in a powerful Day of Action to demand better for publicly funded education.

Wear red. Wear purple. Show your solidarity.

255,000+ strong and rising.
