Big thanks once again to our Institutional Crisis Intervention Team (ICIT) for joining the Touch-a-Truck event at Paradise Valley Campground this weekend.

The team brought out one of the jail vans along with a display of the specialized equipment they use in their work, giving campers and visitors an opportunity to ask questions, learn about corrections, and get a closer look at a side of public safety that many people don’t often see.

Throughout the day, there was plenty of interest in the ICIT display, with visitors stopping by to learn more about the team’s role, equipment, and training. The members did an outstanding job engaging with the community and answering questions from people of all ages.

Events like this are a great opportunity to build understanding and showcase the professionalism, training, and dedication of correctional staff.

Thank you to the Sarnia Jail ICIT team who took the time to come out and represent corrections so well. Your efforts helped make the event a success and were greatly appreciated by the campground community and everyone who attended.

A few puppy cuddles and plenty of smiles went a long way today as Boots on the Ground volunteers, therapy dog Hudson, and handler Christina visited Lambton EMS, bringing some stress relief and support to our paramedic partners.

Had alllllll the puppy cuddles and nose boops 🐶. I got to take off my therapist hat and put on my volunteer hat with this morning. We had therapy dog Hudson and his person Christina, along with fellow volunteer Joel attend Lambton EMS to bring some smiles. Needless to say many smiles were had.

Boots on the Ground can offer this to your service or association, so if this is something you need/want/would like, reach out and I’ll connect you with who can set that up. If you’re unsure of what is you can give them a follow, they are doing great things in the first responder community. I am grateful to have been a part of this volunteer led organization for the past 5 years.

Special thanks to Hudson and Christina for coming all the way from London to hang with us. It was such a fun morning 🩵

During Correctional Services Staff Recognition Week (May 4–10), we join in recognizing the dedication, professionalism, and resilience of correctional workers across our province.

This is work that demands strength, accountability, and a deep commitment to public safety—often in challenging and high-pressure environments.

As we recognize staff this week, we also take time to reflect.

On Thursday, correctional staff from across Ontario will gather at Queen’s Park for the Ceremony of Remembrance to honour those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We encourage all members to take a moment this week to support one another and acknowledge the important work being done every day.
