We were SO excited to host our very first “Our Brain Matters” Art Showcase at St. Catharines Public Library in partnership with Brain Injury Community Re-entry Niagara! 🎨

Last Monday, we held our 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament ⛳️

While the weather wasn’t looking like it would be in our favour, it turned out to be a beautiful day on the course! ☀️

We’re so thrilled with the incredible support from our community. Thank you to everyone who showed up, sponsored, golfed, donated, and helped make the day such a success!

All funds raised help ensure we can continue fulfilling our mission to support individuals living with the effects of acquired brain injury throughout the Niagara region. 💚

Over the past few months, we had the pleasure of recognizing outstanding individuals and an organization for their achievements and support of the Brain Injury Association of Niagara. While some awards were presented at our Annual Meeting in June, others were celebrated throughout July and August.

We couldn't have asked for a better day for BIAN's Annual Picnic, yesterday!

With beautiful weather and plenty of excitement, we welcomed over 80 Members, families, caregivers, staff, and supporters to Lakeside Park under the Neil Peart Pavilion for an afternoon of connection, laughter, and community!

Those who attended enjoyed delicious food, lawn games, a sensory scavenger hunt, walks along the pier, and the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces while making new friendships. Events like these provide a welcoming space where individuals living with an acquired brain injury and their loved ones can come together, build meaningful connections, and celebrate the strength of our community.

We were also grateful to welcome some of our community partners from Evolve and Resolve and Brain Injury Community Re-Entry, who stopped by to connect with attendees and help make the day even more special.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers, community partners, and everyone who joined us. Your support, committment, and attendance helped make this year's Annual Picnic a wonderful success. We are so thankful to be part of such a caring and resilient community!

Over the last two weeks, Members of the Brain Injury Association of Niagara have been creating beautiful Stucco Art pieces!

This two part project involved spreading all purpose compound over canvases and using a variety of tools to create unique textures, designs, and patterns. Members had the opportunity to plan their artwork, experiment with creating 3D effects, and, once their designs had dried, choose colours that brought their creations to life!

Creative projects like this offer more than a finished piece of art. They provide opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, and dexterity while also exercising cognitive skills such as planning, organization, problem solving, attention to detail, and following a sequence of steps.

For individuals living with a brain injury, tactile art activities like stucco art can also encourage sensory exploration, promote mindfulness, reduce stress, and build confidence through creative expression. Every piece is a reminder that there is no "right" way to create, but an opportunity to explore, adapt, and celebrate each person's unique abilities.

We love seeing the creativity and individuality that shines through every project our Members create!
