I crochet the squares together to make beautiful handmade blankets. These blankets are given to clients at various organizations in the Niagara area. The Squares of Hope Volunteer Blanket Program started in February 2020. People have been volunteering their time and talent to work as a team with me, and make beautiful homemade blankets for people in need. Volunteers make the squares and I assemble
the blankets. When the blankets are completed, I take a picture and post it so everyone can see our finished work. The blankets are delivered to: Wellspring Niagara Cancer Support Centre - Fonthill, Community Support Services of Niagara and the Kidney/Dialysis Care - Niagara Health. These unique handmade blankets will warm, comfort and surround people with love. The Squares of Hope Blanket Program is completely dependent on a group of talented, dedicated volunteers to make squares and assemble the blankets. Instructions will be provided for blanket assembly. As a volunteer, you can knit or crochet squares in the comfort of your home. There is no required number of squares, you can make 5 or 100, it's your choice. You complete the squares when it's convenient for you. When you have completed your squares, contact Gail (email below) for delivery. INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE SQUARES:
Use 100% 4 ply yarn, Velvet and wool yarn is not suitable for our blankets. You can make ANY PATTERN, ANY COLOUR and the squares are 8" x 8".
