Sometimes pressure in a relationship is hard to explain.

It can look like:
Feeling guilty for saying no.
Feeling responsible for their emotions.
Being pushed to do things you are uncomfortable with.
Feeling like keeping the peace is easier than speaking up.
Being made to feel “dramatic” for having boundaries.
Constant guilt-tripping, sulking, or emotional pressure.

You do not need a perfect explanation for your feelings to matter.

Healthy relationships respect boundaries without pressure, guilt, or fear.

If you have experienced sexual violence or are supporting someone who has, Niagara Sexual Assault Centre is here for you.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, strength, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.

Indigenous communities continue to face higher rates of violence, barriers to support, and systemic inequities. Access to culturally grounded, trauma-informed care matters.

At Niagara Sexual Assault Centre, we believe support should be accessible, respectful, and rooted in community care for everyone.

Isolation can be a warning sign of abuse.

It can sound like:
“Your friends are a bad influence.”
“Why do you need to see them again?”
“I just want you all to myself.”

Making you feel guilty for spending time with family or friends.
Starting arguments before you go out.
Constantly texting or calling when you’re with other people.
Slowly making you feel like it’s easier to stay home than deal with the stress.

Healthy relationships should not make you feel cut off, controlled, or alone.

If something feels off and you need support, Niagara Sexual Assault Centre is here for you.

1 in 10 older adults in Canada experience abuse.

Elder abuse can include emotional abuse, financial control, neglect, physical violence, and sexual abuse — and many survivors stay silent due to fear, isolation, or dependence on others.

Support is available at any age, and everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and heard.

If you or someone you know needs support, Niagara Sexual Assault Centre is here for you.
