Willow Arts is a charitable arts and peer support organization dedicated to reducing barriers and providing opportunities for adult artists and creatives living with mental illness/substance use disorder in Niagara. We use the arts as an agent of social change by connecting and engaging with the public through exhibitions, publications, and performances to lessen the effects of stigma and social isolation.

DROP IN PROGRAM

This 6 week drop-in program is designed for participants to share their writing and move from the stage of writing privately and into writing with the intention to share it – whether that’s poetry, a novel, a play, prose or creative nonfiction.

unscene is Willow Arts Community's annual juried exhibition celebrating original artwork created by Willow members. Presented at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, the exhibition showcases the diverse artistic practices, perspectives, and experiences of our community.

We had such a great time on October 3 at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St Catharines, making art and experiencing the art of others.

We celebrate the positive impacts of creativity in the community every day in our programs.

Let's celebrate creativity and culture together by sharing stories of how art has changed our lives! Saturday, October 3 from 10am to noon at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St Catharines.

Making our own art and experiencing other people's art brings so many benefits to our lives. The Willow Arts Community provides peer-to-peer arts education programs for people with living experience of mental illness and/or substance use in Niagara. We celebrate the positive impacts of creativity every day in our programs.

Our weekly Discover sessions are an opportunity to learn about interesting topics in the arts. There will be lectures, demonstrations, and discussions about a new idea each week. These drop-in sessions are a time to explore new ideas and take part in artistic conversations.

These sessions are intergenerational opportunities for learning and discussion, and are open to all Niagara residents ages 55+ and Willow members of all ages as part of our Creative Explorations for Older Adults program.

Our Creative Explorations programs are back for Fall 2026! Older Adults are invited to make your own art during our weekly drop-in Create sessions.

The Willow Studio will be open to all Niagara residents ages 55 and up who are interested in making art. Each week, there will be an artist in the studio demonstrating a different art-making skill. See the weekly Create workshop topics at https://thewillowcommunity.com/explorations/

These sessions are also a time for self-directed creation, collaboration, connection, experimentation, and sharing resources. Bring a creative idea of your own to work on and gain inspiration by sharing space and discussing possibilities with your peers. Art supplies are available in the studio.
