CONGRATULATIONS to our fellow AMSG committee member, Steve Paul, on receiving the 2025 Civic Award for Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability from the City of Peterborough!

Steve’s knowledge, care, and passion for the environment and wildlife, along with his exceptional ability to bring people together and build community collaboration, continue to inspire those around him.

Over the years, he has contributed hundreds (if not thousands) of hours toward making our community stronger, healthier, and more sustainable.

As fellow AMSG committee members, we’ve had the privilege of benefiting from Steve’s deep insight, dedication, and leadership. We are so pleased to see him recognized with this incredibly well-deserved award.

Congratulations, Steve!
And thank you for all that you do!
(Including vacuuming Armour Hill - now THAT is dedication!)

We had so many enjoyable conversations on Saturday at the East City Yard Sale!

There was plenty of enthusiasm over our final, community-inspired design of the upper parking area of Ashburnham Memorial Park.

We also enjoyed sharing some WW1 era historical knowledge about the park, which always amazes people.

Thank you to everyone who came by and for your wonderful feedback.

A big shout-out to Ashley Bonner and her crew for organizing this amazing event each year - thank you for your hard work.

Visit AMSG at the East City Yard Sale (214 Munroe Avenue)

Come see the community’s creative vision for Ashburnham Memorial Park (Armour Hill’s deteriorating upper parking lot!)

This is the Final stage of our 2 year project: “From a Parking Lot to a Park”

Funded by the Rotary Environmental Innovators Fund and United Way Peterborough Neighbourhood Fund, with in-kind support from Basterfield and Associates Landscape Architects, this project sought to answer the question:

“How would you envision a change to Ashburnham Memorial Park, in particular, the upper parking area?”

It was our project goal “to promote the transformation of Ashburnham Memorial Park, into a safer, more inclusive and beautiful space for both people and wildlife”.

We are excited to share this new, community-informed concept with everyone as we work towards its inclusion in the 2027 capital budget.

In honour of Earth Day, we were happy to support a large cleanup effort in Beavermead Park, hosted by Clean Up Peterborough.

Being one of the largest and busiest recreational spaces in the City of Peterborough, it sees a large amount of garbage, that tends to find its way to the beach and shoreline.
Trash and pollution don’t just make shorelines look bad, they can seriously harm birds, fish, and other local wildlife.

Clean waterfronts also mean safer spaces for families, boaters, anglers, and anyone spending time near the water.

We are proud to support efforts that keep our waterways clean, beautiful, and thriving.

TOMORROW!!

Let’s help Clean Up Peterborough, with a HUGE turnout for EARTH DAY!

Cleaning Beavermead Park and beach is an important step in protecting our precious Otonabee watershed and the wildlife that lives there, not to mention keeping park visitors safe.

AMSG looks forward to supporting Steve Paul with this important Earth Day initiative.
Come and join us, it’s going to be a beautiful day ☀️☀️☀️💚
