Earlier in June, Students from Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and Skilled Trades Ontario curriculum pathways explored a variety of skilled trades through interactive activities and real-world experiences. ⁠

From niche industries to traditional trades, participants discovered how these careers are helping shape Canada's transition to a Net-Zero future.⁠
⁠
Trades skills open doors across countless industries, and we're proud to help showcase some of the pathways available to young people that also can support an environmentally sustainable future.⁠

🔧 Get a free bike check from a bike mechanic⁠
🏁 Play games and do drills with our cycling instructors⁠
🎨 Decorate their bikes⁠
🚲️ Practice their skills on our ever-popular bike playground⁠

Drop-in anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. for this FREE event. We'll have bikes and helmets available for those who need them. Plus, everyone who attends gets entered in a draw to win great prizes! ⁠

Whether your kids are new to cycling or seasoned riders, this is a great opportunity to sharpen their cycling skills, build confidence, and get ready for a fun summer on two wheels! ⁠

Some students in Peterborough showed their appreciation for their crossing guard by putting up these signs in their neighbourhood. ⁠

Cheers to Peterborough’s many dedicated crossing guards. Their presence on our streets helps ensure students can walk and cycle to school safely, allowing them to stay active and develop independence from a young age. ⁠

Crossing Guard Appreciation Week was June 1-5, and to celebrate GreenUP will be sharing stories about the essential work crossing guards do all month long. If you see a crossing guard in your travels, make sure to thank them!⁠
