Cadet Mess Dinner 2026

On March 8, 2026, 259 Squadron held a memorable Mess Dinner that brought cadets together for an evening of great food, strong camaraderie, and tradition.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Brodo for generously sponsoring the meals. Their support helped make this event possible and allowed everyone to enjoy an excellent dinner together. We would also like to recognize the hard work Mrs. Moore and the kitchen crew, whose effort behind the scenes ensured the evening ran smoothly.

A special thank you goes to our PMC, 2Lt Blade and VPMC, WO2 Arunan, who led the dinner with professionalism and organization. Their planning and leadership helped create an event where the dining area looked outstanding and the entire evening was well coordinated.

Events like Mess Dinner remind us that the cadet program is not only about discipline and professionalism, but also about building friendships, creating memories, and strengthening the bond within the squadron. It was wonderful to see everyone come together and enjoy the night.

Cadets leading cadets.

259 is incredibly proud of our cadet-led marksmanship team. Competing at the Okanagan Zone Competition in Vernon this past weekend, they placed second overall.

This was a team made up largely of rookies, coached and led by a fellow cadet. Over the course of the competition they faced nerves, challenges, and adversity, and worked through all of it to deliver a strong performance that clearly reflected our motto of Perseverance, Initiative, and Courage.

To top it off, one of our junior cadets finished just one point shy of Top Shot. The future is bright.

Holiday Potluck & Talent Show – Parent Reminder

As the Commanding Officer of 259 Panther Squadron, I am looking forward to meeting many of you at our squadron’s holiday potluck dinner on Tuesday, December 16th, at the LHQ. This event, hosted by our Squadron Sponsoring Committee, is for cadet families and provides an opportunity for parents to meet the officers, enjoy a cadet talent show, and get a glimpse of what your cadets are involved in throughout the year.

A sign-up sheet for parents is available on the Squadron’s SSC page.

I hope to see you all there!

November is an incredibly busy month for our Cadets here at 259. Throughout the last two weeks, you will likely have seen them at school assemblies, Remembrance Day ceremonies, hockey games, and participating in the Legion's poppy campaign. The dedication of these young members of our community is unmatched. We, the staff at 259, would like to commend and highlight the Perseverance, Initiative, and courage of all our incredible cadets in support of this year's period of remembrance.

Remembrance Day is an opportunity to stop, reflect, and acknowledge the sacrifice of generations past. There is no nobler pursuit than that of peace and freedom, both of which have come at a heavy price. We will never forget the sacrifices made on our behalf. We will remember them.

This week, two of our senior cadets, Flight Sergeant Pieters and Warrant Officer Second Class Gosse, reached a major milestone as they aged out of the Air Cadet program.

It takes Perseverance, Initiative, and Courage to make it to the finish line. Work, school, and life place increasing demands on cadets as they progress through the program, and not many reach this point.

Both have led with integrity, mentored others, and set the standard for those who follow. Their impact on 259 will last well beyond their time in uniform.

Well done, Professor and Bobsled.
