How to NOT be Broke: Everything Credit Cards — Part One

Credit cards can be helpful, risky, confusing, or all of the above. This week, Thursday June 4th, we’re starting the conversation with Everything Credit Cards: Part One, where we’ll break down what credit cards are, how they work, what interest means, and how to avoid some of the common traps.

This workshop is a great chance to ask questions, learn the basics, and build confidence before using credit.

Open to youth ages 12–24. Snacks provided!

Brace yourself, SUMMER IS COMING.

And we're pretty stinkin' excited about it because we've got some great workshops, groups and EVENTS coming up.

First things first, you'll notice we've got three calendars - one for our youth at the Penticton Centre, one for our youth out in Summerland, and a NEW calendar dedicated to the parents and caregivers of youth between the ages of 12-24!

A couple special events to note this June:

✦ BARBATHON ✦
Foundry is teaming up with Dan at True Blue Barbershop to offer barber style cuts for a consecutive 24 hours on June 13th. ALL proceeds will be donated to Foundry to assist in expanding free counselling services for youth.

✦ DETONATE PARTY ✦
Taking place at Detonate in Summerland, we're hosting a "Party with a Purpose" on June 21st. Come play games, enjoy good food and beverages, all while supporting our youth counselling expansion into Summerland!

✦ DROP-IN RESUME WRITING ✦
Join the Work and Education team on June 8th for drop-in resume assistance.

✦ HOW TO NOT BE BROKE ✦
A popular workshop series in today's economical climate - the Work and Education team are continuing this series every Thursday until June 18th. Come for one or come for all - it's up to you!

✦TUESDAY NIGHTS OUT ✦
This group is for parents and caregivers of youth between the ages of 12-24. Your youth does not need to be actively engaged in foundry services for you to join. If you're looking for a welcoming and safe atmosphere with others experiencing the rollercoaster that is raising youth, this is the place for you. From spaghetti dinners, to a weekly book club (held on Thursdays), disc golf and workshops to help with parenthood, Tuesday nights out is an incredible resource for the very people raising today's youth.

✦ RADAR, WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS & SAGE ✦
Our weekly youth groups offer ever-changing activities and events from general well-being tips, game days, picnics, Q***r support, we've got something for everyone. And they always have snacks which is a total selling feature!

We've got something we're excited to FINALLY be sharing with you!

On June 13th, Foundry is teaming up with Dan at The True Blue Barbershop in Summerland to host a first ever (at least to us) BARBATHON!

You might be wondering, "what exactly is a barbathon?"

Well, look no further because we've got the deets for you!

The Foundry/True Blue Barbershop barbathon is a 24 hour (yes, you heard that right) fundraising event where for 24 straight hours, you will be able to book the barber cut of your dreams.

The coolest part about all of this? Dan has generously offered to donate 100% OF THE PROCEEDS towards the counselling program at Foundry opening more doors and opportunities for local youth to get the support they want and need.

Mark your calendars - we can't wait to see you all there!
