๐Ÿ’š Got Extra Garden Produce? CMHA Can Put It to Good Use! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŒฝ
The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is currently in need of grocery donations for our meals program.
If your garden is producing more vegetables or fruit than you can use, we'd be grateful to take it off your hands! Fresh produce helps us provide nutritious, home-cooked meals to individuals living with a diagnosed mental illness.
Last year alone, our meals program served more than 10,000 meals to community members who rely on this support.
Good nutrition plays an important role in both physical and mental well-being, and your donation can make a real difference in someone's day.
If you have extra produce to share, please reach out or drop it off at CMHA. #103-1873 Main Street Penticton

Child and Youth Mental Health Day, marked annually on May 7 in Canada, offers an opportunity to raise awareness of the struggles that children and youth face. It encourages individuals, communities and policymakers to prioritize mental health initiatives.

Family Smart, a BC-based non-profit, established the day in 2007. Their goal is to facilitate caring, connected conversations between young people and adults. Since then, the day has spotlighted both the existing mental health supports for young people and the work that remains to be done.

This day reminds us that when young people feel seen, heard, and supported, their mental health improves. Even the smallest acts of checking in, listening, or simply showing up can have a lasting impact on a childโ€™s mental health. โ€œI Care About Youโ€ is at the heart of May 7, reminding us that through conversations, support, and everyday actions, we can help young people feel seen, heard, and valued.

For more information please visit https://familysmart.ca/may-7th/ which lists a number of virtual events for parents and caregivers, as well as activities and videos for elementary, middle, and secondary school communities.
