Ptarmigan Arts

Ptarmigan Arts Ptarmigan Music and Theatre Society is a registered, charitable arts organization with a mandate to deliver community arts outreach programs. Be kind.

Ptarmigan Arts exists to provide creative opportunities for our island communities through education and engagement in the arts with the mission of cultivating a creative community. We have been in existence for 25 years, and have a solid track record of coordinating and delivering successful, innovative and inspirational artistic programming for our communities in areas such as music, theatre, da

nce and the visual arts. We work to ensure our educational programs are accessible to all, and run those programs for people ranging in age from seniors to preschoolers. Our clients include schools, community groups, seniors’ centers, homeless shelters, and facilities that serve clients with disabilities and disadvantages. Ptarmigan’s work helps all members of our society, especially those who are marginalized due to isolation, poverty or health, to live healthier, happier and more engaged lives. Community Guidelines:

Ptarmigan Arts is here to celebrate, support, and uplift our community 🧡. Please help keep this space welcoming for everyone. Be respectful. 🎸🎺🎹 Jr + Sr Contemporary Ensemble with Ben McConchie returns this fall!!

The program's focus will be on making music together—studying, rehearsing, and performing great contemporary songs, from jazz standards and classic rock to modern pop and indie. Along the way, students will dive into improvisation through chord–scale theory, refine playing with practical music techniques, and deepen understanding through musical and lyrical analysis.

Students will be encouraged to bring their own creativity to the table by writing original songs for their ensembles. To support our work, participants will have access to a wide variety of instruments from the Ptarmigan Arts instrument bank, including drums, guitars, basses, keyboards, and more.

Whether you are a returning student, new to the program or a beginner player, everyone is welcome🫶

📆 Thursdays, September 24-December 17
🕑 3:45-4:45PM JR ENSEMBLE Grades 6-9*
🕑 5:30-6:30PM SR ENSEMBLE Grades 8-12* For more advanced musicians*
*Suggested groupings only
🎟️ $150 per student. Please contact [email protected] for sponsorships.
