The 2025 national model codes are out. Several provinces are targeting adoption on January 1, 2027. Ontario has new OBC provisions landing the same day, with a full code review now weighing how closely we follow the national model.

This has been a truly magical and meaningful OHBA Conference week!

I am deeply honoured to have received the David Horton OHBA Association Leader of the Year Award. To be recognized by the people I respect most in this industry is something I will carry with me for a very long time. I was, for once in my life, speechless.

Thank you to OHBA CEO Scott Andison for your trust in me when I said I wanted to create an EO Synergy and Strategy Summer Summit. Thank you to Past Chair Christina Giannone for your guidance and direction - and especially for bringing your kids to OCBA to help emcee and hand out our Awards of Distinction. That was a special night! Thank you to Tom McLaughlin for your energy and your open mind as our OHBA Chair. I am looking forward to working with everyone this year as EO Committee Chair.

It all started with PHBA (formerly SABA). Thank you to my PHBA Board for trusting in me. Then to Vince Lapico at WEHBA for asking whether I would consider becoming EO at two HBAs. And from there, thank you to the Oxford County and Grey-Bruce Home Builders and Trades Association Boards for also putting your faith and trust in me as your EO. We continue to grow together and solve problems together. I am honoured to work for you and with you. Our goal on the EO Committee this year is to be "Part of the Solution" - working together on the issues we can solve collectively. It does not go unnoticed, the importance and the hard work and dedication that every EO and CEO across our Ontario HBA's brings to our industry. Collectively, the difference everyone makes for their members is outstanding. I am so proud to represent the members I do, and I look forward to sharing the WHY behind what I do over the year ahead.

Lastly, if you are reading this and have been thinking about joining your local Home Builders Association: Stop Thinking and Join! Take your passion, your values and your expertise and put them to good use. Grow your connections, grow your business, grow your relationships with industry stakeholders. What started for me six years ago with the Perth-Huron HBA has taken me on a journey locally, provincially and nationally. What you put into the association(s) you are a member of, is what you will get out of it.

Join a committee. Be the difference. Become part of the solution. It comes back to you full fold. Stop thinking. Start doing. Say yes. You won't be disappointed.
