Congratulations to Kristen, our most recent Healthcare Hero! 👏👏👏

Kristen is a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the Crisis Support Program at Brightshores and works closely with patients navigating mental health challenges. Read what her nominator wrote below:

"Kristen is very knowledgeable. She treats me with respect and we have some good laughs together. At this point she knows me very well and I trust her which leads to better treatments. She is very complementary and has given me lots of great ideas to deal with different situations. She is so respectful and I find working with her has helped me a great deal. I was going to quit treatment. Instead of washing her hands of me, she talked it through with me and made so much sense that I choose to continue. She’s always smiling, always on time. You can see she’s caring and grateful to do what she does. It’s obvious that she picked the right career. She does it so well. I’m grateful that she’s the person helping me. She’s awesome." A heartfelt ✨THANK YOU ✨ to Kim McMahon, owner of Lakeshore Glass in Sauble Beach, who stopped by our office this afternoon with a generous donation in support of Oncology & Cancer Care at Brightshores Owen Sound.

Throughout the month of May, Kim donated $5 from every participant in her Lakeshore Glass classes, turning creativity and community spirit into meaningful support for local patients and families facing cancer.

We are incredibly grateful for your support Kim, thank you!

Wow! These Healthcare Hero nominations just keep coming in and we are so grateful to recognize the staff and share your messages with them!

Meet our newest Healthcare Hero, Daniel! 👏👏👏

Daniel is a Registered Nurse (RN) at the Wellness and Recovery Centre. His nominator, Isaac, wrote a very thoughtful message about how incredible Daniel is. Read his message below:

"Dan has been my Case Manager now for going on three years and he has such kindness and compassion for those he works with that struggle with mental health in the community and such dedication to making a difference in his client's lives.

Dan is always there to advocate for my current needs, talk with me when I am having a bad day, or just be that friendly voice to remind me of the progress that I have been making towards my goals and recovery.

He has helped me realize that my mental health does not define me and that I can live a happy and well balanced life despite my mental health struggles. This has been displayed by being encouraging and happy for me when I decided to enter the workforce again in 2024 after not working for awhile, the little celebrations of the victories that I have made and making sure that special occasions don’t go unnoticed like my birthday.

Without the help of Dan over these last three years I honestly do not know where I would be in my mental health journey as his guidance and passion he shows really has made it easier to manage my mental health and stay and work within my local community with less admissions to the hospital as he continues to provide me with the appropriate coping skills and techniques.

I am looking forward to continuing having Dan as my case manager and seeing where the future takes us.
