Brightshores is welcoming 14 new physicians representing a range of specialties including Medical Oncology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Neurology, Psychiatry, Surgery and Anesthesiology.

Congratulations to Teresa, our most recent Healthcare Hero! 👏👏👏

Teresa is a Peer Support Worker at Brightshores and works closely with patients navigating mental health challenges. Her kindness, compassion and genuine passion for supporting others shines through in everything she does — and we think her nominator’s words say it best:

"Teresa is an amazing Peer Support Worker and places a vital role in providing care to those struggling with mental health.

Since the start of her career in this position Teresa has been nothing but kind and compassionate towards those needing support. She will sit down and talk with you from a Peer level with the things on your mind in the current moment without judgement. Providing a listening non-judgmental ear is so important to those who struggle with mental health and Teresa does an amazing job at this.

Teresa will provide support and meet you at your level when interacting, this is either through talking about the current emotions you are feeling, acknowledging that it is ok to show emotions and talk about the struggles you are facing, or sometimes she will just sit down with you and play a game of Skip Bo which she has gotten better at over the years.

Her positive attitude shows that she is made for this role and I love that if you get the chance to interact with her again she asks how things have been going which shows how passionate she is about helping people achieve the ability to begin their mental health recovery." Grateful patient, Isaac

Did you know that we have a baby recognition wall at Brightshores Owen Sound that honours the little ones that have touched our hearts? It is a beautiful way to celebrate, remember, and give back to those who cared for you.
