The Great Glebe Quiz

What a fun way to wrap up the month of September! The Great Glebe Quiz brought our community together for an afternoon of laughs, great company and friendly competition, all while supporting older adults in our community.

Whether you aced the questions or found some challenging, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to support The Glebe Centre. Events like this help us offer additional programs, activities and experiences that older adults in our community love and deserve!

Congratulations to Mutchmor Smarter – you made it to the top of the leaderboard! And thanks to Irene’s Pub on Bank Street for letting us use their space, once again. Finally thanks to our fantastic sponsors, David Burns and Associates and Brent Conley.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Today we pause to honour the courage and resilience of residential school survivors - remembering the children who never came home and standing with the Indigenous communities in healing.

As an organization that supports older adults throughout their life journey, we believe that everyone’s story matters. By listening to Indigenous voices and learning the truths of our shared history, we can help build stronger, more inclusive communities.

Today we invite you all to wear orange, take time to learn about Indigenous history and experiences, listen to Indigenous voices, and think about how we can play a role in advancing reconciliation.

Every child matters – today and every day.

Think fast, laugh hard, and give back!

Join us on Sunday September 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Irene's Pub for an afternoon of trivia fun, laughter, and community spirit.

Gather a team of friends, colleagues, family members, or neighbours, or simply come on your own and join a team. Whether you are a seasoned trivia enthusiast or just looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon, everyone is welcome!

All proceeds from the event will support The Glebe Centre Long Term Care Home and Community Programs at Abbotsford – helping to ensure older adults in our community remain connected, engaged, and supported. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who benefit from the programs and services we provide.

What a great way to end the week - with an Ice Cream Treat!

Today, we were delighted to welcome Mr. Sundae on-site, serving delicious soft ice cream sundaes to our residents and staff. This special treat was made possible through PREP LTC funding, bringing smiles, laughter, and a little extra sweetness to everyone's day.

We were also pleased to have Natalie, our Regional Engagement Liaison with the Ontario CLRI join us for the celebration. As you can see from the lineups and the smiling faces, it was a memorable time enjoyed by all!

Thanks to all of those who helped plan this event and to Mother Nature for her beautiful skies.

The Glebe Centre's Abbotsford Seniors Fair

This was a great success, and we are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the fair such a memorable occasion.

A big thank you to The Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO), whose financial support enabled us to host this event once again this year and provide complimentary activities and lunch for our members.

It was so wonderful to welcome local City Councillors, Shawn Menard (Capital Ward) and Riley Brockington (River Ward), whose continued support helps advocate for the needs and well-being of seniors throughout our community.

Finally, a special thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers for their hard work planning and executing this event, especially during this busy time of year - your commitment made this day possible.
