For youth ages 11 to 15, our Bike & Fishing Camp combines two great summer activities into one unforgettable week. Campers will explore Ottawa by bike, discover local fishing spots, learn new angling skills, and enjoy plenty of outdoor adventure along the way.

In partnership with experienced local instructors, campers will learn essential fishing skills, including baiting, casting, and responsible catch and release practices. Rods and fishing equipment are provided. Campers must bring a road ready bicycle in good working condition and a CSA approved helmet.

There are also a few spaces remaining in our Bike & Fishing camps for 8 to 10 year olds. Register today and get ready to ride, cast, and explore! Don't let it be the one that got away...

Another oldie from the archives for this Throwback Thursday!

You know the drill... or do you?

You may know the Firehall for its many programs that help little ones learn and grow, but did you know we also offer unique learning opportunities for adults too?

This Sunday, is the launch of the new Fix & Learn Workshop, where you can bring a small appliance, clothing item, or textile in need of repair and learn how to fix it with guidance and support. Have repair skills to share? The volunteer team always appreciates those that can assist or share their expertise.

Led by neighbours for neighbours, this new initiative is free and aims to reduce waste, extend the life of our belongings, and build practical skills within our community. Join in to learn something new, connect with others, and help keep useful items out of the landfill.

The Community Connections group was a real pane today! Participants designed their own glass inserts and carefully glued each piece into place. After a special glazing process using hairspray, the finished creations will be ready to be installed in upcycled lanterns.

This creative project turned out beautifully, and we were impressed by the variety and artistry of the designs.

Remember, Community Connections is free to attend and meets every Wednesday from 1:00–2:30 p.m. at the Firehall. We hope you'll join us!

The Old Firehall is a true community hub in Old Ottawa South and always worth stopping by! Check out our outdoor board for upcoming events, pick up a copy of the latest Firehall Program Guide, browse the community bulletin board, and if you're lucky, you might even find some OSCARs available (they tend to disappear quickly!).

It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout at OSCA’s AGM yesterday. Residents had the opportunity to hear from our panel of representatives and ask questions directly to Capital Ward City Councillor Shawn Menard and Member of Parliament Yasir Naqvi.

We were delighted to welcome so many members of the community and sincerely appreciate our representatives for taking the time to listen to and address the concerns and priorities of our neighbours. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to an engaging and productive discussion.

We've been very fortunate to have an extra set of hands these past few months. Our wonderful high school co-op student, Malik, has been learning the ropes and quickly became a valued part of the OSCA team.

Yesterday, he presented at his school, sharing his co-op experience and everything he learned with fellow students and faculty. We're proud of all he accomplished during his time with us and wish him continued success in the future!
