Last week the Project North Star restoration celebrated the completion of a contract with Mathieu Leboeuf from Flying Beef Aviation Services. Mathieu spent six weeks reviewing documents and consulting stakeholders to recommend efficiencies and enhancements that will promote the restoration goals. Thank you for the great insights Mathieu!

Here is a nice post from the RCAF. The North Star was turning heads back in 1950. She is still turning heads when visitors see her at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Please note: I know the image in the post is the VIP transport aircraft. The "authentic" North Stars had Rolls Royce Merlin engines and red prop spinners. Still, it's a thoughtful shout-out on the anniversary of the first non-stop x-Canada flight ;)

On this day in 1950, the completed the first round-the-world flight in a North Star aircraft from 412 Squadron, completing the trans-global journey in just over 125 hours. This set a new world record for a flight of this kind and showcased the powerful, Canadian-built North Star's capabilities for long-range transport, supporting later vital Korean War efforts.

After a busy summer and many steps forward with the restoration, North Star 17515 is back in her stable. Rachel, our talented story teller, documented some of the progress in this short clip. Over the coming months the volunteer team will focus on a floor patch near the cargo door, stripping down the control surfaces, and gathering the many parts to be reinstalled in the main cargo bay. We will keep you posted...
