Here is a nice post from the RCAF. The North Star was turning heads back in 1950. She is still turning heads when visitors see her at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. Please note: I know the image in the post is the VIP transport aircraft. The "authentic" North Stars had Rolls Royce Merlin engines and red prop spinners. Still, it's a thoughtful shout-out on the anniversary of the first non-stop x-Canada flight ;)
On this day in 1950, the completed the first round-the-world flight in a North Star aircraft from 412 Squadron, completing the trans-global journey in just over 125 hours. This set a new world record for a flight of this kind and showcased the powerful, Canadian-built North Star's capabilities for long-range transport, supporting later vital Korean War efforts.
