Yasmin Syrian Cooking was founded by a refugee woman who created a space for other newcomer women to build meaningful work and connection.

Today, this woman-led, woman-operated social enterprise supports school lunch programs in partnership with Nutrition Blocs, helping provide meals to school-aged children across Ottawa.

At the same time, it creates opportunities for women to grow, lead, and contribute to their community.

Because when people are supported, entire communities benefit.

On May 20, the Kiwanis Feeds Kids Gala will be taking place at the Horticulture Building at Lansdown park, bringing together a community that shows up for kids in Ottawa.

Nutrition Blocs is proud to be this year’s beneficiary.

Good food, meaningful conversations and a shared goal are what will ensure school aged children in Ottawa can begin getting access to the meals they need to succeed.

When a community overlooks its youngest citizens experiencing hunger, cracks begin to show. Opportunities are missed, hopes fade, and futures go unfulfilled. Nutrition Blocs is working hard to change that.
In partnership with the SWAG (Students Will All Graduate) program, we support youth aged 13-18 from low-income families, offering more than just food. We are offering them a clear path forward through support because every young person deserves to grow up with the opportunities and the nourishment they need to thrive.
