During Indigenous History Month, we extend our sincere gratitude to the TC036 Cultural Safety and Humility Technical Committee members and the many partners, contributors, and interest holders who are supporting the development of the National Standard of Canada on Cultural Safety and Humility.

This work is grounded in the decades of advocacy work and the voices of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples to advance cultural safety and address Indigenous-specific racism.

We recognize that meaningful progress to advance cultural safety requires collective responsibility across the health system. Together, we are working to co-design standards, assessment programs, and capacity-building initiatives that foster environments where First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People feel physically, emotionally, spiritually, and culturally safe.

While there is more work ahead, your dedication, knowledge, and leadership are shaping a stronger, more accountable system. We are grateful to be on this journey together. https://hubs.la/Q04j2J4l0

HSO and Accreditation Canada’s teams are looking forward to participating in CCHL National Conference 2026 on Montreal on June 14-16. Canadian College of Health Leaders

Our Senior Program Manager Judith Eigenbrod will present on the development of a National Standard for Cultural Humility and Safety.

This standard responds to longstanding calls to action from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, governing bodies and organizations from coast-to-coast and builds on the work done in partnership with the First Nations Health Authority in BC on the British Columbia Cultural Safety and Humility Standard.

The National Standard for Cultural Humility and Safety was developed by an Indigenous-led technical Committee that includes national representation from First Nations, Inuit and Métis individuals with a diversity of professional and personal experience.

During this session, Judith will speak to the development process of the standard and provide participants with the opportunity to discuss and share how they can implement the standard to support culturally safe care and address Indigenous specific racism within their organizations.
