The federal government’s National Electricity Strategy overlooks the essential role propane plays in rural, remote, Indigenous and Northern communities.

Propane can cost up to less than half the price of diesel and heating oil in many parts of Canada, while emitting approximately 38% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than heating oil and 98% less particulate matter than diesel.

A national energy strategy must include proven solutions like propane.

Canada produces approximately 337,000 barrels of propane per day, and exports to Asia now account for more than 40% of Canadian propane exports — clear evidence that global markets recognize the value of Canadian propane.

At home, propane helps keep households, farms, businesses and remote communities powered through outages, extreme weather and affordability challenges.

Any serious discussion about a national energy strategy must include propane.

Canada’s National Electricity Strategy misses a critical point: rural, Northern and Indigenous communities need energy that is reliable, affordable and available where they live.

Electrification cannot come at the expense of communities where electricity costs can be up to six to ten times the national average and alternatives like natural gas are not practical or imminent.

Ready now, affordable now, lower emissions now: that's the power of propane.

⚠️ If your propane supply was turned off:
• Do NOT reactivate appliances yourself
• Do NOT attempt repairs or modifications
• Have your entire propane system inspected by a qualified technician first

If damage is visible, contact your propane supplier immediately.

Your safety comes first after any wildfire emergency.

From Canada–U.S. trade relations and global energy markets to policy, innovation, agriculture, Indigenous partnerships, and propane's growing role in the energy economy, today's conversations highlighted both the challenges and opportunities ahead for our industry.

A special thank you to our incredible speakers and panelists for sharing their expertise and insights, and to our attendees for making the day such a success.

We were also honoured to conclude the day with a White Hat Ceremony, celebrating Calgary's spirit of hospitality and welcoming our guests in true Alberta fashion.
