Golf tournaments held alongside CPA’s provincial seminars in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario helped raise funds for the CPA Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing post-secondary education.

CPA members gathered at Deerhurst Resort September 24 and 25 for two days of golf, networking and industry insights at the 2026 CPA Ontario Seminar.

The event kicked off with a golf tournament on September 24, allowing members to connect while raising funds for the CPA Scholarship Fund.

The next day, we were pleased to welcome the Hon. Erin O'Toole, President and Managing Director of ADIT North America and current member of the federal government's advisory committee on Canada-U.S. economic relations. O’Toole shared his perspective on upcoming opportunities for the propane sector, Canada-U.S. trade, defence spending and Canada’s current political environment.

Members also heard from MP Scott Aitchison, Owen Kennedy, Director, Fuels at the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA); Lesa M. George, MBA, Executive Director of the Propane Training Institute; and the CPA’s Allan Murphy, Robert Loenhart CD, and Chris Crawford.

A win for rural energy choice.

The Canadian Propane Association’s advocacy for federal support for propane in rural, remote and Indigenous communities is making important progress.

The House of Commons Finance Committee has recommended including propane in federal rural energy assistance programs in its report released this week:

“Recommendation 74
Expand lower-emission energy access in Indigenous, rural, and remote communities by ensuring affordable energy choice through the inclusion of propane in federal rural energy assistance programs.”

Rural Canadians deserve affordable, reliable energy and the freedom to choose propane.

This recommendation is an important step forward, and the CPA will continue advocating to see it reflected in federal policy and programs.
