Following a medical wake-up call, a Montréal copywriter abandons his life in Canada to reinvent himself as a sheep herder in the French Alps despite knowing literally nothing about the centuries-old craft. After a rough start, he’s joined by a civil servant tempted by his stories of pastoral life, and together they commit to a summer on the mountainside. Just the two of them. And one border collie. On Monday, February 2, at Galaxy Cinemas, Orangeville, Monday Night at the Movies will screen Out Standing. Tickets are $10.00 (cash only) available now at BookLore and on the night of the film at the MNM box office table in the Galaxy foyer.
Three screenings: 4:30, 7:00 and 9:10pm.

Out Standing tells the story of Sandra Perron, Canada’s first woman infantry officer. Raised in a military family, Perron pursued her own dream of serving her country with great determination after joining the Canadian Forces in 1984. Perron faced challenges far beyond the gruelling physical demands and ugly instances of harassment and abuse. It was the institutional sexism that surrounded her in the Canadian military that arguably became her most relentless adversary. Out Standing succeeds first and foremost as a riveting portrait of a person whose outward tenacity masks deeper reservoirs of anger and vulnerability.
